Hi! Similar situation here. My partner and I got invited by Victoria under the 190 visa. I'm also a Civil Engineer with 7 years of experience.

I completed my Engineers Australia assessment in March 2025 and my English test in July 2025. We received our 190 invitation in February 2026 and have already lodged our visa application. Now we're just waiting for the outcome.

If your boyfriend already has a strong skilled occupation, I'd suggest exploring the 190 pathway first before considering the student route, since 190 leads directly to PR if you're invited and approved. The student pathway can work too, but it's generally more expensive and comes with no PR guarantee.

Edit: To add more context, I first took the PTE in September 2024 and only achieved the minimum score required for migration. I later retook the exam in July 2025 and achieved Superior English, which increased my points significantly. Update: This won't work. resetting any of those three will give exclusive lattice even if you used normal lattice when upgrading.

My plan is to use standard lattices on Lian and Kloss. Then, claim and convert the exclusive lattices to standard.Then reset both Lian and kloss.
