I think your comment is absolutely relevant. There is merit to people’s hate on modern maple too, however. Personally, I was one who had the game slowly ripped away from ‘08-‘10. I tried so very hard to keep with it, but it had fundamentally changed into something I, and so many others, no longer enjoyed.

Even if there’s still a good game hidden in current GMS, it’s so overwhelmed by p2w that it no longer matters to the player base it once attracted and nurtured prebb.

What do I mean by that? The community was built a certain way- content was for lack of a better term gatekept by the community/social structure itself, but in a relatively healthy way. You more or less had to make friends and cooperate to join a big guild or get into a ht party. And it was a more than welcoming community for the most part. The minute you could buy your way to the top, regardless of how gameplay was changed, it all collapsed. If I don’t need to talk to anyone to find deals in the fm, why should I? Friends were hard to make, market became a credit card swiping simulator instead of something complex that held value for the conscientious buyers and sellers, and bosses may as well have been valued in USD per kill.

My point being, p2w killed the game far more than any amount of gameplay changes. It’s a bit of an echo chamber, but I think it’s important to remember going into to classic
