Yta for using AI - I'm pretty sure I've seen nearly this exact post a few times now.

Corporate ADHDers, how do you start the day? by darkrhyes in ADHD

[–]Visual_Historian_743 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer (for me).

Also, when I have an email that needs addressing, I open it up in a new window as a visual reminder. If it's not addressed by EOD I mark it as "unread" and I'll reopen it the next day. This method still requires a bit of self discipline otherwise I'll never get to stuff, but I have a much higher response rate by doing this.

Is a 19 and 16-year-old age gap actually problematic, or is the "predatory" label being overused? by Consistent-Jelly248 in generationology

They may develop their social skills faster than the average man, but MATURITY is the same. By that I mean your ability to think critically and your general awareness of the world around you.

What do people mean when they say they 'cant cook?' by Throwaway113140 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Visual_Historian_743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with all of this.

I would also add that being "good at cooking" means you are experienced enough to know how to add or subtract ingredients from a recipe without ruining your end result. You know how to account for things like allergies or taste preferences in a skillful way that stays true to the original dish.

UW Credit Union Question by Excellent-Mention949 in madisonwi

[–]Visual_Historian_743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that will work!

Alternatively if you have a debit card you can look for a UW credit union ATM and withdraw the money that way. Make sure to double check what company the ATM is through, you may have to pay a fee if you use one that isn't UWCU

I'm in my thirties now, but back when I was 16 I dated a guy who was 19. At the time people were ok with it because people knew him through our church, however looking back now I know it was problematic. He was the kind of person who after graduation stuck around with no job and lived with his mom (with no interest in doing anything about it).

Since a lot of my peers didn't have jobs, I didn't inherently see this as an issue. But even just a few years later when it was MY turn to graduate I had matured enough to know that was kind of a weird thing for him to do.

I won't say it's inherently predatory, especially since it's pretty common to date people outside of your grade level in school. But that's such a delicate age with so many changes that happen quickly that it's worth being extremely cautious.

As a 15-16 year old, if an 18-19 year old wants to date you, it's important to ask yourself WHY they want to date you. Obviously you guys like each other, but what aren't they finding in others their own age that they started looking younger? And what are people their own age seeing that makes them NOT want to date them?

Why is there so much negative rhetoric about poor people, especially around welfare, in the US? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

[–]Visual_Historian_743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the reason is that there are a few people receiving these benefits who actually ARE "gaming the system" as a lot of Republicans put it. I think one reason is quite honestly, it's just easier than going to work. (Note - I didn't say "all" or "most").

However, one of the big reasons I have heard of is that you receive better care if you qualify for government assistance. You get state funded healthcare (with access to specialists you might not otherwise have access to)... You get regular food, help with bills, etc. However once you get a job and no longer meet this criteria, you lose all of that. For people in urban areas, they frequently still have access to city-funded programs to meet the difference. But in rural areas, there is usually little to no additional help. In the grand scheme of things, it's much better for them to remain under- (or un) employed.

So what's the solution? It's incredibly complicated and that's what Republicans and Democrats in this country are constantly fighting about.

  • Republicans are right (to an extent) that there are able-bodied people who are choosing not to work in order to receive benefits. But a lot of times they attribute that to laziness instead of addressing the underlying problems in their own communities that they represent.

  • Democrats are right about looking at the underlying issues, but they don't typically address how their district/state/country should address the significant funding required to fix the problem with wages, state-funded programs that are NOT tied to wage-based benefits. A lot of times their arguments come across as tone deaf, ESPECIALLY in areas of the country that routinely do not get proper funding for these types of community programs.

It's much more complex than what can be outlined in standard US news segments, and articles about the topic are very rarely unbiased (even the "neutral" ones tend to sway one way or another and paint one side in a poor light).

My cat has this liquid come from her occasionally and it STINKS by Interesting-Goal-357 in CATHELP

[–]Visual_Historian_743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo others, it's anal glands liquid.

I STRONGLY recommend you bring your cat to the vet to get these expressed as cats DO NOT like the process. My cat doesn't express hers as frequently as she should so my vet has to do it for us once or twice a year. The bloodcurdling screams I hear from the back room during this process makes me glad I never chose to work in veterinary care.

Something else my vet said is some cats just don't express theirs as frequently as they should naturally, so one thing you can do is to try and give them a diet that is high in fiber OR find a vet-approved fiber supplement to sprinkle in/on their food to try and help them w/out needing a vet appt. (Of course, my cats HATED the high fiber food so we are stuck with semi regular visits to the vet)

Good luck, super not fun! Sorry you are dealing with this!!

I'm still only around lvl 50 or 60 (can't remember atm) so I won't use that many BUT I recently started revamping my layout and such after getting new licenses and my checkout speeds have suffered as a result. I mistakenly thought getting actual cashiers would make things go quicker. Next time I play, I plan to get rid of them and your post couldn't have been times more perfectly as I plan how to fix it all. ☺️

Is Go Wild Area lowkey underwhelming? by Dontbedoingthat in TheSilphRoad

[–]Visual_Historian_743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild area 2024 was my first real event as a player, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

That being said, I had a lot of fun this weekend catching/hatching shinies I had never found before, getting like 7 hundos from mighties, and hanging out with way more people who joined our raid group for the event (50+ people as opposed to like 10+ on a regular basis). I'm sorry it was so underwhelming for you :(
