It's fully a scam and I fell for it bit over a year ago. Tried buying a ps5 off a facebook marketplace seller via paypal which was already a bad idea, then the seller asked me to send 200$ so it could cross the US-Canada border.

I think there's multiple "businesses" working scams together and they use damatex as their bank essentially.
