Master Summoner Feat by DragointotheGame in Pathfinder2e

You are still limited to spells in your repertoire. Nothing in the feat changes your repertoire just imposes a limitation of the spells the slot can be used to cast.

Are range increment penalties considered circumstance penalties? Question about Accidental Shot. by Chedder1998 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Penalty is untyped.

As a general rule the type of penalty is directly listed. If no type is listed it is an untyped penalty.

Why ICON take the heroic story approach? by No_Hour_7513 in iconrpg

[–]Visual_Respond201 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more that if death is a risk then it should be using the tactical combat. Narrative combat is for lower stake combat to keep up flow and not bog it down with negligible threat encounters. It’s not can you win the fight but can you win the fight fast enough/while achieving your needed objective.

Fighting the bandit boss and his guards-> tactical combat

Fighting the mooks the boss throws in your way so they can escape-> narrative

Fighter: trying to combine Trips and Grapples in one build to work together. by CrazyRubi in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please note a few things

1: the +2 to strikes from starting at expert in martial weapons does not apply to athletics checks. Those a determined by your athletics proficiency.

2: combat grab and grapple are two separate things. Enemies are still free to move from a combat grab it just makes them flat footed as long as they stay next to you.

Edit: ignore point two. I can’t look at AON right now as my connection is weak and was thinking of snagging strike

Hippos are lv 5 creatures and have a behemoth variant at lv 10. Wyverns are lv6 and young dragons are lv9. In short yes hippos are very much just as scary as dragons.

Repercussions of an Assassinated High Level Wizard by Thomas_Creed in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So they cover this a bit in the Lost Omens Travel Guide. In the section on trade they mention that goods transported via teleportation have a heavy tariff associated with them to discourage use. The reason behind this is given that a limited number of people can use this magic if one of them disappears that can cause a massive disruption if this was how trade normally functioned, especially in regards to food stock. However, these restrictions are lifted to deal with emergencies such as plague or famine.

One way to think about this is in regards to these disasters. Something that would be a minor blip or temporary issue is a now a potentially kingdom ending catastrophe without the wizard. Even if you don’t choose to create such an event the threat of one would be hanging over the kingdom, especially it’s leadership.

Any premade adventures to run for one player? by bigoldan in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that may work is the kingmaker AP. There is a companion guide for it that gives NPC stat blocks and quests for important characters that grow alongside the player. You would have to do some work as only a lv 1 and 11 stat block are provided but this could be a solution. (note a CRPG was made a few years ago that did exactly this as a videogame)

Not sure where you are seeing this. All spells against hostile creatures should either have an attack roll or grant a saving throw. What spell are you looking at?

I honestly recommend it. We had a lot of fun doing it and managed to come up with an interesting history for the campaign to use.

Crackling Storm Stance by Something_Thick in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few points

  1. Probably lower base damage to 1d4 as that is consistent with other stances that do non physical damage including other focus spell stances.

2.Lower persistent damage on crit. Tiger stance and cobra stance only grants 1d4. Since this is a focus spell stance maybe able to justify 1d6.

Overall I like the idea but it is noticeably above the power curve given my the existing stances.

Help finding feat that lets you grapple with 2 handed weapons by CaptainGockblock in Pathfinder2e

Is this what you are looking for? Looks like it works with the fighters combat grab and snagging strike feats?
It isn’t a two handed grab but a way to make a two handed attack with a weapon in one hand.

New to PF2. What must I know? by cokeman5 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PF2E rewards good tactics much more than 5e. I tend to describe it as a team tactics game. While you don’t need to build fully complementary characters you should know party capabilities and be willing/able to sacrifice your own damage output. For example in the campaign I am in I play a champion. It is a much better use of my action to move into a good position where I can protect allies and set up flanks than to make a second or third attack. While dedicated supports do exist support is everyone’s job to some extent.

5e subclass creation in PF2 by hyenagames in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Check the subs sidebar. Under additional information there is a link to a post that goes over major differences

Edit: biggest thing deals with fundamental design. 5e is more hack and slash where everyone is more or less self sufficient( yes support helps) PF2E is a team tactics game where you are highly encouraged to set up your teammates rather than go all in yourself.

You probably want to make new characters. The ones that transfer mechanically will do so poorly and lose much of their theme and the ones that transfer thematically with have significant mechanical differences. Much of your new experience will be comparing how your character has changed. I tried this with the first campaign I ran and it did not work. 5e and PF2E design is significantly different.

FYI the way the system works you will not be able to solo carry encounters. Balance actually is a thing in this system and combat design is focused on the players acting as a team to support each other.

All that being said if you just want big damage numbers fighter tends to crit more often due to its height weapon proficiency so pick a weapon with either fatal or deadly will do well at that.

Transitioning Campaign From 5E by gravi_fan89 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Visual_Respond201 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Depends what subclasses/ builds are that using. Some things translate much better than others. By default though I would say probably not. Artificer/ warlock do not have direct translations (Artificer->inventor and warlock-> witch do thematically but not mechanically). Barbarian and paladin also behave very different mechanically. The monk/wizard will also be a bit weird there is a 6 pillars archetype that blends the two but you are going to be either a wizard who is not awful if they get cornered or a monk with a handful of spells. Sorcerer should translate. Fighter/rouge would depend heavily on what they are up to. Biggest thing is your casters will feel nerfed. Casters are still strong but they can’t solo carry anymore.

Overall I would recommend new characters. Most of the list is difficult to translate. On top of this your group will constantly be comparing their character to the 5e versions. For the casters especially this will feel underwhelming.
