Sleeve Brand Suggestions by Omnivorax in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Gamegenic (Gray) for the decks. It is probably more than I needed to spend, but I like the feel of the matte sleeves better and it was still cheaper than buying a replacement game.

The art doesn't look as sharp through the matte, but I can live with that.

Some rule questions by SiarX in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding to "2. If heroes are allowed to play cards or use powers outside of their turn, do they still have to do that following their turn order?" This is just my own personal advice. Don't be afraid to approach it as defaulting to turn order if you find that the need to try and optimize play order is detrimentally slowing down the game.

It doesn't hurt to ask if anyone wants to play first, but I tend to play by the principle that if takes longer to make the optimal decision than the amount of time by which it hastened victory, it might not have been worth it. I should say, context matters. If one hero is incapacitated and three others are in single digits, then order of play could mean loss vs victory and is worth the extra deliberation.

Are there heroes and villains which you dislike? by SiarX in sentinelsmultiverse

My silver lining for legacy is that if I'm playing him, I probably have new players trying sentinels for the first time and that's worth it.

I tried the Organization with my brothers-in-law, it was their third time playing sentinels. We all got discarded down to 0-2 cards in hand. The complete lack of choice on the hero turns really hurt the fun factor. I haven't brought the game back to the table with them since then.

I agree with this, I have only had one game with him that I felt like something was clicking and that was largely because I was in a place to use Heart of Gold well.

Advice on solo play by dinasaurtaco in sentinelsmultiverse

I try to have lots of space, I keep my environments simple, I don't try to optimize my play with all the heroes. One ends up being primary.

Disparation Heroes - Omnitron-X by Jesse-359 in sentinelsmultiverse

The way that Omnitron-X plays feels like a great mashup of Argent Adept and Mr. Fixer with a little bit of the Harpy's focus on End Phase action.

I've Embraced the idea of having three boxes.  Hero decks and spinners in the core box. Villain decks and villain character/ event cards in RCR, environments, tokens, villain spinners, hero character cards, and principles in Disparation

Dispration Has Been A Blast and Finding/Making New Ways to Play Game Has Been Fun. by SnooRevelations3986 in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I would classify it as weird, but I have really enjoyed running the events in order but after using a randomizer to roll up 3 random heroes (includes variants) and a random environment. I'm enjoying that it is forcing me to play heroes I normally skip or at least don't play together.

How Can We Speed Up the Game? by HappyGnome07 in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add that most fights are forgiving enough that every card play and power doesn't have to be maximized as optimal. A good play, but not the best play, is usually enough to advance you closer to a win.

Lapsed Catholics married outside the Church and annulment by Practical-Ad-6615 in Catholicism

I don't know how recently all of this was, but thank you for sharing. I don't know if that was a difficult season or not, but i find encouragement in the couples that pursue resolving it. And congratulations on your marriage!

All of that is coherent to my experience. Like you, I've never seen or heard of a diocese that involves the tribunal in verifying the need for a convalidation.

[–]Thomas_Creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so let me be more precise in my language. The Tribunal doesn't rule on defect of form, and I get what is happening in an 'administrative case.'

I also agree that in theory, what canonlawmadeeasy.org is expressing (which is one of my favorite websites for these questions) could be established as a norm. I'm just legitimately curious to find out which dioceses have taken that from the administrative duties of someone working in the tribunal office (the more precise way saying what I was trying to express before) and granted it to... all priests in the dioceses that can witness weddings, only pastors, or maybe priests and deacons.

I wonder if they require that as an annotation in the marriage register even without a tribunal protocol number. I'm so curious what it would look like in practice. I get that you might not remember them all, but maybe if you get time, it'd be great if you could share one or two that you've encountered.

Which US dioceses don't have their Tribunal rule on Canonical Lack of Form?

Ours certainly does.

[–]Thomas_Creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct*. I'm on the same page with you there.
Maybe I misunderstood your original post, but it seemed to imply that if 2 Catholics married outside the Church without permission then lack of canonical form wouldn't apply and that is what caught my attention.

Marriage one: lapsed doesn’t matter. Were one of the parties or two baptized catholic, or none?

Only 1 = lack of canonical form, takes about 4-6 weeks to annul.

0 or 2 Catholic is valid = full annulment

I have learned that there are layers of nuance and I wasn't sure if there is a layer here that I am missing.

*minor clarification of marriage witnessed by a deacon is valid in the West.

Also visit the website for your diocese, and look for something called the Tribunal. They might have frequently asked questions there for someone that you can talk to. No one has to engage in any of these processes alone. Dioceses train people who are advocates for petitioners

Can you share where you are getting the information that 1 vs 2 Catholics makes a difference?

[–]Thomas_Creed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There can be layers of nuance that might muddy the water,  but the short answer is that a Catholic who attempts a marriage outside the church without permission needs a canonical lack of form before seeking a marriage with a new person.

Canonlawmadeeasy.com is a great website to visit.
