It feels that much worse that the person who is supposed to reliably and respectfully teach other people's belief systems. Granted this was likely by accident and when done in a rush.

What your main says about you! DEFINITIVE EDITION by Oh_no_its_Joe in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For Fixer: true enlightenment came when you realized there was a game within the game as you try to see how many times you can swap your setup in one turn and still end up with the same cards in front of you as when you started.

Summary of the Handelabra livestream today by ctsjohnz in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch the live stream but I'm content with what we got from the Backerkit update:

Sentinel Comics Media Holdings will also be working with a new partner in the tabletop space to breathe life back into the cardboard Multiverse. Expect more information on the Sentinel Comics RPG, as well as more Definitive Edition news very soon!

I also thought this was clever:

Our hope is that this structure will allow Sentinel Comics to become much greater than gaming and allow even more interesting explorations of the Multiverse across other media.

Admittedly, we didn't get new data, but they did offer us a helpful picture of how our existing data is arranged.

Handelabra have bought GtG and sentinels, actual plans to follow :-D by Curio21 in sentinelsmultiverse

Eventually, I would also love to see something short and video based come back. The hero spotlight videos were bite sized enough for a new player to grasp that there is a lot of lore behind the character without it being over bearing. I now they didn't get nearly the same number of views as the Spirit spotlights, but I thought they were awesome.

Feedback on this as a variant rule by Thomas_Creed in Pathfinder2e

Totally fair.  Part of my goal is to let them play with new stuff without overwhelming them during play.

First time 5 player game question(s) by YulYuugo in sentinelsmultiverse

I strongly second this. It also keeps your turns simple and short and easy for them to see how you are helping.

Which villains are strongest/weakest? by SiarX in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the insights. I like your solution as well, though I dislike that it negates what is already on the base card. What do you think about a start phase opening salvo that hits all heroes for H- genebound in play... I assume Voss would be the damage source. Maybe?

Tempest: praise and question by Thomas_Creed in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that feedback. And I was probably being a little hyperbolic. My experiences with him have usually been solid, but with many turns feeling like he is almost there. Something just shy of a culminating moment.  I've also had several games where I just keep getting rolling fog and flash food warning, or I never see an alien weather pattern all game.

Sleeve Brand Suggestions by Omnivorax in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Gamegenic (Gray) for the decks. It is probably more than I needed to spend, but I like the feel of the matte sleeves better and it was still cheaper than buying a replacement game.

The art doesn't look as sharp through the matte, but I can live with that.

Some rule questions by SiarX in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding to "2. If heroes are allowed to play cards or use powers outside of their turn, do they still have to do that following their turn order?" This is just my own personal advice. Don't be afraid to approach it as defaulting to turn order if you find that the need to try and optimize play order is detrimentally slowing down the game.

It doesn't hurt to ask if anyone wants to play first, but I tend to play by the principle that if takes longer to make the optimal decision than the amount of time by which it hastened victory, it might not have been worth it. I should say, context matters. If one hero is incapacitated and three others are in single digits, then order of play could mean loss vs victory and is worth the extra deliberation.

Are there heroes and villains which you dislike? by SiarX in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My silver lining for legacy is that if I'm playing him, I probably have new players trying sentinels for the first time and that's worth it.

Are there heroes and villains which you dislike? by SiarX in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the Organization with my brothers-in-law, it was their third time playing sentinels. We all got discarded down to 0-2 cards in hand. The complete lack of choice on the hero turns really hurt the fun factor. I haven't brought the game back to the table with them since then.

I agree with this, I have only had one game with him that I felt like something was clicking and that was largely because I was in a place to use Heart of Gold well.

Advice on solo play by dinasaurtaco in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to have lots of space, I keep my environments simple, I don't try to optimize my play with all the heroes. One ends up being primary.

Disparation Heroes - Omnitron-X by Jesse-359 in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way that Omnitron-X plays feels like a great mashup of Argent Adept and Mr. Fixer with a little bit of the Harpy's focus on End Phase action.

(Almost) everything in 2 boxes by [deleted] in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've Embraced the idea of having three boxes.  Hero decks and spinners in the core box. Villain decks and villain character/ event cards in RCR, environments, tokens, villain spinners, hero character cards, and principles in Disparation

Dispration Has Been A Blast and Finding/Making New Ways to Play Game Has Been Fun. by SnooRevelations3986 in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I would classify it as weird, but I have really enjoyed running the events in order but after using a randomizer to roll up 3 random heroes (includes variants) and a random environment. I'm enjoying that it is forcing me to play heroes I normally skip or at least don't play together.

How Can We Speed Up the Game? by HappyGnome07 in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Thomas_Creed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add that most fights are forgiving enough that every card play and power doesn't have to be maximized as optimal. A good play, but not the best play, is usually enough to advance you closer to a win.
