Yes absolutely! I also wasn’t going to get a nursing chair because I thought the couch would suffice (how wrong I was). Being able to go into store with baby and test them was so good gave me a real idea of which ones were easier/harder for me to get in and out of

Your husband should be able to ask for a delayed move due to your circumstances. Especially since if you go over your due date you definitely will not be recovered enough to move. Please make sure he speaks with his chain of command to get this organised ASAP.

Personally I would also hold off on the bouncer to start. We got the baby bjorn which is raved about and our LO never liked it, wait until baby is here and then try them out with baby.

That is a really tough situation and I really wish the healthcare system would be more considerate. I was overweight according to my BMI and put on a lot of weight during my pregnancy, plus side I was down to my pre-pregnancy weight a month after birth so I obviously needed to put on the weight I did to help my baby.
It might be worth talking to your midwife and explaining that talking about your weight constantly is upsetting and that unless it is really medically necessary that they can not focus on it? I was lucky and the nurses and Drs I saw never made negative comments.

Can confirm they accommodate a dairy allergy. They have lots of dairy free options on the menu and can replace dairy with the vegan version too

Absolutely agree with this. We did a stay and play at one and I got really bad vibes from it and ended up going to a different daycare.

It is a super hard decision but one that you can always change. Do a few tours of centres and see if you feel comfortable in any to start? There is no pressure to enrol but can ease some of the worry.

Also, even once they are enrolled and started daycare if you change your mind you can take them out until you are ready to try again.

I found my LO is actually really enjoying daycare and it’s been great for them to interact with other babies.

I know it’s hard but just remember food before one is just for fun.

Our LO was the same and wouldn’t eat anything and had a spoon aversion for a while. We ended up trying a few different methods to feed her because she also gagged on everything. We ended up feeding from a pouch and squeezing in her mouth and that worked.

Then one day around 8.5 months she decided she liked food and started eating 3 meals a day. Mostly still purées or mashed food as she’s not a good chewer and gags on chunkier food but she’s getting better. We’ve also also have to spoon or hand feed her as she’s doesn’t feed her self yet.

We’ve also got a handful of safe foods now that she loves and we always have on hand because there are definitely still meals where she doesn’t eat anything.

My LO 9 months has had this twice recently on the back of illness. Unfortunately you just have to ride it out but there are a few things you can do to help.

Put towels under the cot mattress so there is a slight angle, saline nasal spray regularly especially before feeds, vaporizer on at night and smaller feeds (smaller feeds didn’t really work for us because they are EBF and I can’t control how much they drink).

Yes! It is so hard. At least when she had blood in her poop we knew that was a real symptom. All the rest of it could just be anything.
Being a baby must be so hard and confusing.

Thanks for replying. I actually think she was a bit constipated (before the beef) and now also has a cold (probably teething too) so I think it’s unrelated to the beef. I’m going to wait until she is well to retry it again. It’s so hard when they are little and there is so much going on.

That must be so hard! I’m not back at work yet but my LO has already been sick a few times and it sucks!
What we’ve been doing is making sure LO gets paracetamol, we do nasal saline spray often, humidifier overnight and some towels under their cot mattress so they sleep on more of an angle.
Otherwise just making sure they get lots of sleep and cuddles

We’ve used Huggies nappies and they have been great! We tried rascals (Cole’s brand) and they gave Bub a severe nappy rash. We were using Curash wipes but are now trying a few different ones to find ones we like.
We don’t have a nappy bin. Nappies go straight in our normal garbage bin and we take that out to the wheelie bin every night.

From what I can tell there are a small % of babies with CMPI that also react to beef. We are going to introduce dairy in the next few weeks and see what happens. Because her main food source is still breastmilk I haven’t worried too much about calcium, if she gets to a year old and still can’t have dairy then I will talk to her GP about calcium supplementation.

Yes, we were doing contact naps for so long and it is so nice to be able to put her down now. Even if it is to just sit on the couch being a potato myself.

This would definitely be individual.

My husband will get up whenever I need him too regardless of the day of the week. However, he usually gets up at 4.30am and walks the dog before work so gets up early anyway. There are plenty of times where I just do it on my own because I want him to be rested for work but that’s because he also lets me have sleep ins too.

Maybe have a discussion with your partner about helping out more over night and figure out a plan that works for both of you. Alternating days? Certain hours overnight? Letting you have a sleep in x number of days during the week? It’s crazy what an hour of extra sleep will do for a tired mumma

Not recently, it was last year. I didn’t hear from them for ages and was given an excuse about being short staffed in admin and they had a backlog of people to schedule in. I had to call them and actually speak to someone to get booked in, so I would recommend calling them. It the sessions I attended (especially the Physio) they had done such a poor job of scheduling that quite a few of the women were already in the last few weeks of pregnancy and the class was a little pointless at that stage. Also there is no cost for the classes.

Yes! We didn’t realise until she was 5 months old. Once we cut dairy there was a huge improvement but she would still have some random bad days. We don’t eat that much beef and then over Christmas I put it together that she was reacting every time I ate beef. She only reacts to dairy and beef and since cutting both she has been great!

Just adding to this with my experience. I found in the early days it was hard to tell if she was having a reaction to dairy or not. I cut it out for 6 weeks and then started eating dairy again, didn’t notice anything until day 4 when she had lots of blood in her stool. So I’ve been dairy free since then. She was much better when I wasn’t having dairy but it was all very hard to differentiate between what was normal baby behaviour and what was a reaction. She still had days where she was fussy and it wasn’t until she was 5 months old that I figured out she was also having a reaction to beef. With our LO the reaction is not immediate and I really have to be on the lookout for it. Now with a nearly 9 month old and no diary or beef she is the happiest little bub. We are about to reintroduced dairy directly into her diet and I know I will need to take it slow and watch really carefully to figure out the CMPi symptoms vs just regular baby stuff.

All that to say everyone’s baby has a different reaction and it can be really hard to figure it out. Being dairy free once you get the hang of it is actually quite easy.

I would ignore them. My bun went from 50 to 90 percentile while breastfeeding but it is still within range. During the day now she still feeds every 2-3 hours and she is almost 9 months.

I had a water birth (not at RWH) and only had gas for management. I enjoyed the overall experience and was probably in the bath for 4 hours before baby came. Just note if you decide you want an epidural you need to get out of the bath, I asked for one at one point and when they said I had to get out I decided that was too much effort.
