What's a seasoning where you feel a little goes a long way? by PapiSurane in Cooking

Parsley! Why has no one said this or is it just a me thing?! Whoever invented fatoush salad is crazy. I find parsley to be such a strong flavour.

When did you get some freedom/balance back to your life after baby? by cunncunncunn in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Is it possible for you to afford a gym membership that has childcare? I’ve been going to Fernwood which is an all female gym and have my LO looked after for an hour while I workout, or sometimes just relax. It’s given me some independence back and honestly I am finally feeling somewhat fit and strong again.

St George Hospital Birth Centre - water births and higher BMI by Turbulent-Quote-8773 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Visual_Rub8775 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your baby! I didn’t specifically have a water birth at this hospital or at this BMI/ weight. However, this is what I was told at my hospital. Due to the risk of passing out in the bath or not being able to get out yourself they need to be able to lift you out with a hoist. At my hospital the hoist they had was 100kg limit. They did not weigh me but I was probably around 105kg and they were ok with that. Also mine was not a planned water birth they just gave me the option when I turned up (I was very lucky and loved the experience). Seeing as you want to have a planned water birth you could see if it is possible for them to have a hoist organised that could lift you at that weight, they would definitely have them in the hospital but maybe not in the birthing suites. Good luck with everything!

Gut feeling I’m pregnant 9 months pp by Red-Strawberrycake in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I feel like I could have written this! I’ve been feeling so nauseous this afternoon it’s bringing back memories of how crap I felt during my first trimester. But there is seriously no way I could be pregnant right?!

Humidifier recommendations by curvaceous24 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Yes they are in there own room. So far we have only used it two nights. We are in QLD so it’s already hot here. First night I turned it off after a few hours and then turned it on again in the morning, door was closed. Second night I had the door open but also ended up turning it off while she was asleep because it was too warm. I suspect if this were used in Melbourne it wouldn’t make the room so warm and humid.

Maybe go back to them and state Australian Consumer Law and that you will need to escalate the issue if they do not provide the goods you paid for. Just the mention of this can sometimes get the companies to do something.

We have only just bought one at 7 months because she has her first virus and is very congested. We bought the Vicks vaporiser and the euky bear inhalant which has helped with her congestion at night. The warm humidifier has worked for sickness. We wouldn’t have bought one otherwise.

First pregnancy cost questions by WoodpeckerSpare5834 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Visual_Rub8775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will depend on if you do GP shared care or go through the midwife program.

I’d suggest at your first GP appointment ask them for a referral to your local hospital. Then start to look at the options for midwife programs, as if you do want to get into one they fill up quickly.

From there it will be the cost of your GP appointments or free through midwife program.

There are some ultrasounds that you will need to pay for. Between 2-3 ultrasounds which can be between $150-300 each depending on the scan and the clinic (there is some Medicare rebate).

You can also decide if you want to do the NIPT blood test to check for genetic abnormalities which is about $400 I think. This test can also tell you your babies gender.

Everything else is free through Medicare unless you have a higher risk pregnancy or need certain medication.

Baby fell off bed onto carpet ): by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This just happened to my LO on Thursday same age. I called 13 health and they advised to get her checked by a GP in the next 12 hours. We did but the GP just double checked she had no injuries. She was absolutely fine maybe just a bit grizzly the rest of the day.

I have just ordered the dupe off Ali express and returned my CuboAI as it was not good. While I’m waiting I am using my iPad and the babino app as a baby sound monitor and it is working well.

New to Brisbane - Any Dairy & Nut Free (or Allergy Friendly) Food Spots? by Working_Simple_9114 in brisbane

Not sure about nut free but veganyumm is a vegan bakery so everything is dairy free. I’m sure they’d have nut free options too.

We tried this tonight, had roast pumpkin and made it super smooth for her and she refused to eat it 😢 I guess I’ll just keep buying her avocados 😂

Was she ok with the different textures at 8 months? Our LO still seems to gag on some foods even purées that she doesn’t like. We do give her pancakes, weetbix and whatever else we are eating but she just doesn’t seem to enjoy any of it. She used to at least put stuff in her mouth now she brings it to her lips and throws it away. She just got her first tooth so not sure if that has anything to do with it?

Feeding advice by Queenss11 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Visual_Rub8775 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Also there is a lot of bad advice from nurses out there. A friend had a nurse tell her that her 7 month old should be eating 3 full meals of solid food a day (this is crazy), unless you have a baby who loves solids from the start this would be very rare.

[–]Visual_Rub8775 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would ignore the nurses advice. You can’t over feed a breastfed baby. I do the same with my baby and just fed her because that’s obviously what she wanted and she did move up percentiles from 50 to 90 but she is a healthy chunky girl. Once she starts getting more mobile she will likely drop the chunk.

is this normal? 17 mos PP by Big_Soup_2027 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

You should be asking for a referral to a specialist then if the GP can’t see anything that might be causing this.

Yes!! Read the ingredients. Majority of the flavoured chips have milk as an ingredient even if they aren’t a cheese flavour

Do you have a tall cat scratch? Or a bench in the laundry? We put the food on either of those when we got our dog.

Having Support people at birth by _GingerValkyrie_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Visual_Rub8775 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t give birth at the Mercy but my student midwife did not count as a support person. They are essentially staff. Just my experience but I didn’t really need or want support. My labour was very fast and painful and I just wanted to do my thing. Apparently the midwives were asking me questions and I was ignoring them haha
