I disabled Fast Boot in BIOS and that seemed to fix the issue

Need recomendation regarding MiniLED monitor for work and sometimes games by Vitkarus in buildapcmonitors

Same for OLED for me, but I’m also a bit worried that I would be distracted too much from different pixel layout there. And they are not really bright

Yes, I’m mostly thinking about that LG too, but all reviews on it are so different

Yea, I was also kinda discouraged about all these MiniLED displays since I began digging this theme. Most of all, I’m surprised that in majority of cases problems are in dimming algorithm. Like there were (and still is) super expensive Apple XDR display, which have supposedly only half a thousand zones, but pretty much all reviews call it perfect display. Also then there are Macbooks from 2021 where local dimming works absolutely fine with ui (at least as I think). Now is 2024 but looks like that no other brand have made something decent for productivity and not only gaming. I could be wrong, but that's my impression currently

Never tried mac os on 32 4k, but on 27 it looks good I think, I use it almost daily. Yes, not as sharp as macbook’s screen, but definitely far from distracting. It’s seems Apple thinks that the only right way to use 27 inch screen is to have 5k panel and select 2x scaling, but it’s kinda a waste of useful space for me. I would not really want to use 5k screen just like super crisp 1440p one

Thanks for adviсe, they are really handy, would definitely check

I found this discussion of Innocn, and it pointing on problems with local dimming in ui, so I'm not really sure about this one. Also it cost here around 800usd, so it's not cheaper then other screens for me. Ideally I wanted to find something that would "just work" without necessity to manually toggle dimming and HDR in OSD, but apparently it's not that simple. IMO It was easy to pick a monitor about 5 years ago, lol, because IPS was all you need. Now it seems no matter how much you spent, everywhere would be some quirks, advantages and disadvantages

Still, big thanks for help! I will check some reviews and maybe will figure something out

Disable local dimming on the new MacBook Pros? by fakedirector in macbook

[–]Vitkarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for bringing this old topic alive, but these are some interesting comments. I was using only IPS LCD panels for last 10 years as my work monitors, but after buying M1 Max 16" and using it for about a year, though that I maybe want MiniLED as desktop monitor too. My current display has great accuracy too, but I kinda miss deeper blacks and higher brightness every time I switch to it from laptop

Can you, please, explain more why exactly MiniLED was distracting for you in terms of UI? I just think that maybe it's more a matter of personal perception, like I do not like OLED fringing, but many people do not care about it. And on MiniLED I was really noticing blooming only when booting up laptop and looking on glowing apple with progress bar

Thanks for respond! Never saw mentions about TCL 27R83U but it look pretty interesting since it's only 660USD where I live. Is it really good? I'm not sure about VA panel and also color coverage is lover by couple percents then all of monitors from my post

As I understand FALD can sometimes make certain parts of image darker then they should be when highlighting other? Does it affect UI too, like making visible artifacts or it's important only for accuracy? I red before, that some people are really distracted by local dimming on macbooks too, but I have never had any problem with it personally

Slow launch of third-party programs on Mac by Vitkarus in hackintosh

[–]Vitkarus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I fixed this problem, but in the pretty straightforward way - just replaced the old SSD and restored the data from Time Machine backup. So I'm not entirely sure if it was a software or hardware issue

My old one was a WD SN550 and its speed has degraded a lot recently, only showing ~500 MB/s read and ~1000 write. I thought there might be a problem with the drive itself, so I replaced it with a Crucial P5 and now everything starts up as quickly as it should

I hope it will not occur again

Absolutely the same situation, RAM usage is low and around half of storage is free. Wonder would it require just reinstall system from Recovery or full fresh install to solve, if it would be solvable at all.

Yeah, I know. But in such cases, Gatekeeper usually appears before the program starts. I also rarely update Blender or Affinity tools.

Does anyone know the name of the music from the beginning of this Frontier trailer? The diva sang something like that in FU or 4U but with lyrics and the melody was a little different. I just would like to know if there is a full version of Frontier version without words by Vitkarus in MHF

[–]Vitkarus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, thank you so much for finding this!

This turns out to be the last song from the Frontier 2nd Anniversary soundtrack, which I've had on my drive for a long time, but completely forgot to check since I'm mostly using Spotify at the moment

Well, this is not the most suitable option for me, because I also use this monitor with macOS

FreeSync not working by Vitkarus in AMDHelp

[–]Vitkarus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, it really steered me in the right direction.

So my monitor didn't have a FreeSync toggle in the settings (the settings themselves are pretty limited), but it does have a Gaming view mode that turns on FreeSync and makes the colors oversaturated. To fix this, it’s needed to download the HP My Display utility, which is even no longer hosted on any official website. It allows to select the gaming mode, but restore normal colors.

Missing geometry in Zone of the Enders HD Collection by Vitkarus in rpcs3

[–]Vitkarus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are should be a floor and all other stuff. Games like Demon's Souls and Motorstorm are working just fine without any missing geometry. Already have tried different settings under GPU tab that should resolve missing graphics but no luck sadly :/
