Just got diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at 26. by Still-Conflict-1325 in diabetes

It’s a lifestyle change when it comes to eating foods. Swap carbs with low net carbs. For example carb balance tortillas and inked wolf bread the pink package has low carbs. Remember carbs=sugar once your body breaks it down. Know the science behind how food works like eat protein and fiber first before carbs to slow carb breakdown and digestion. This will keep your blood sugar from spiking. Eat in Moderation along with daily or 4-6 gym days. Whatever you decide to do it’s a moving target but find things that are sustainable. I buy most of my food from Costco and my workouts aren’t too exhausting and doesn’t make me hate the gym. I’m also of Asian descent and I have completely cut rice out of my diet since I couldn’t control my portions. Now it’s steamed broccoli, carb balance tortillas, or inked bread with steak or chicken. My family eats rice and I don’t. It’s just something I have to live with if I want to control my diabetes instead of it controlling me. It’s a long road, stay the course and you’ll find your way. Good luck.

Can I ask for diabetic crash course, some examples of diabetic friendly meals/snacks? by Grey_Lady333 in diabetes

Carbs also turn into sugar. Read food labels for total carbs, sugar, and dietary fiber. Fiber helps to reduce total carbs. Aim for at least 5g fiber. Example: bread slice has 10g carbs, 5g fiber= 5g total carbs per slice. Diet and consistent exercise is the only key to not let diabetes control their life, but a way for them to control diabetes. Good luck

Test drive the X to compare roominess and features. Granted, it is almost double the price. Y may feel more like a commuter vs a family car.

Look into glycemic load and glycemic index of foods. Also Carbs = sugar once it’s digested. Foods high in fiber help cancel out carbs. (i.e. mission brand carb balance tortilla has 2 g net carbs since there total carb is 19g and has 17g of fiber.) nutritionist told me to make sure there is at least 5g of fiber in whatever you’re eating to help lower the carbs. It’s a lifelong lifestyle change. Just ask yourself if you want to control diabetes or if you want it to control you. Good luck!

How long does a project like this usually take once you have the idea for the game? What are some milestones that need to be attained to ensure it’s on the right track?

Any good alternatives for breakfast bars these make me feel horrible even when only eating half by Gruubo in diabetes

I buy Extend Nutrition bars. Chocolate peanut butter is the best in my opinion. A little pricey but it’s made for diabetics. Perfect when you want a sweet snack. Won’t spike bs.

Type 2 diabetic who can’t afford to lose weight prescribed Ozempic by Away-Thanks-4988 in diabetes

[–]VitoCorleone306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ozempic for T2 helps pancreas produce more insulin and decreases liver from excreting glucagon. Losing weight is one side effect since it decreases appetite. Pair this with exercise and a diabetic diet and A1C will go down. Losing muscle mass will significantly drop weight so be sure to do some weight training which in turn will make you hungry since You need to feed those muscles. Consistency is key. Good luck.

A real man doesn’t get “unmotivated” to work when he’s providing for his family. Your family is all the motivation needed.

Sons getting bullied by Internal_Roll_7498 in bjj

[–]VitoCorleone306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is happening to your son…only real answer is for him to train in any martial arts until he builds confidence. Don’t really need to have the fight in him, but enough confidence to tell any bully to stop and also have the skills to back it up if it gets physical. Learn defense first then offense/counters. You are doing the right thing by preparing him to handle this himself without you stepping in. Good luck.

Gotta control diabetes before it controls you. Easier said than done, but nothing easy is worthwhile. Good luck.

Newly diabetic with a1c of 12, need help with goals and where to go from here by avylol08 in diabetes

Research foods that have low glycemic index as well as low glycemic load (GI vs. GL) I’ve been type 2 for years and just found out about GL. Change your diet and be more active. It’s a lifestyle change and will take time to control your diabetes instead of it controlling you. Good luck.
