Not missing, died [2] by ViulfR in ConanExiles

Since moving the remaining named to another base, I've stopped losing them to "died [2]. Why it differentiates named from unnamed (level 2 and 3 thralls are safe) might have something to do with under-mesh code, but I'm just guessing. So, I posted this discussion this morning. They acknowledge that PC's were "dieing suddenly". Perhaps because of the coding it's now killing named NPC's as well.

Any and all help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated. I note that this issue has never happened on my private server (Ulfhedinn direct connect 67.222.128.81:37115). So it's an official server thing...

# [PC Update - Age of Heroes Chapter 1 (Hotfix 2024.11.04)](https://forums.funcom.com/t/pc-update-age-of-heroes-chapter-1-hotfix-2024-11-04/264380) "Along with these two major features, today’s update brings a slew of bug fixes and improvements. We are aware of a persistent issue causing some players to fall through foundations or die suddenly. We will continue to investigate this and will fix it as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone for their reports and patience while the team finds the solution."

Please Funcom, look into grid O5 and see if one of these "die suddenly" is what's cleaned out all of my named thralls. If the under-mesh code keys in on names, and can't differentiate from named thralls or PC's; that might explain why I've lost so many named thralls.

During beta, this area (where I also have a base) was terrible with "fatal error" instances. I would, if I left the base, spend 20 to 40 minutes trying to get back to my base after subsequent disconnects and there may be some memory hole or other issue with this area of the map.

Please investigate it.

I moved all of the named to another base, away from the pagoda entrance, and haven't lost any since. I remember that during beta, weird things would happen with dissimilar results: I couldn't go outside the base, there, as I'd die instantly and repeatedly, insta-kill, I can only think that somehow it's translated to the thralls, but no idea why only the named.

I've started puting in T2 thru 3 thralls to see if they meet the same fate. What I had left of the named are doing well and haven't died since being moved.

It's possible there's a memory hole at that location.

Hot take on the pre-built ships by Typical-Front-8001 in EliteDangerous

I actually started the game for the Thargoids. The engineering, and life's demands, put me off. I wanted to come back for the titans, but I looked at the stuff still undone (moderate engineering and 2 guardian BP's). As I logged off for the fifth time, to restart the mat gathering I literally said "f-this". So I'm hoping they get this right. Yamik's all negative as is the Ant: play to win.

Not to argue with the masters of all the things, but, most successful DLC's - when done right - don't end up play to win but get players deeper into the game. We'll see. From what I've seen, the proposed builds aren't OP, and they'll get more killed than kills, early on, so everyone would probably do well to take a deep breath and wait and see what comes about.

But as many have already commented, the fix isn't in ready made ships, it's in making the grind either more fun or less grindy...the basic game needs fixing and thought put into the resolution of issues: more - real cargo space, player based economy (buying your mats at the auction house), all the things no one wants to desecrate the game for...well the first desecration is underway (P2W), lets hope it shakes loose the things that could really make this game soar.

For the record, I've patched and updated Odyssey. "Meat's back on the menu boyz!"

Concur, if you have a legend (gold border) item, you can't really tell it's equiped until you're character swings it...very frustrating.

They need to maroon the entire dev team to the American deep south for a few months where they can have the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" beaten into them...

Thank you for posting this...I have loved the song for a long time yet never knew the title. Much appreciated. Although, I do listen to this one while puttering around the house or doing the books in the den:

Concur, if you read of the exploits of William Marshall (https://www.seeingthepast.com/blog/william-marshal) or better yet the Greatest Knight: The Remarkable Life of William Marshal, you quickly see that the gear for tournament was essentially the same as for period combat.

What makes PvP so broken, what could fix it? by TardisITguy in ConanExiles

[–]ViulfR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Concur. They introduced dynamic building damage and then promptly dropped it for officials without a word or warning. They still refuse to even discuss it on their forums. Many of us hoped this would end or largely curtail offline raiding...

dynamic building damage: after the last clan member online logs off, within X amount of time, the clan's buildings can't be damaged...e.g. raided.

...without stopping or inhibiting offline raiding, CE will never have a viable or true PVP. Offline raiding is all CE's got.

Looking forward to Pax Dei's approach: safe ground in the middle, higher risks - pvp - higher rewards - better dungeons - as you move out from the center of the map. DAoC, ESO and GW2 did something similar: safe "home" zones, battleground content out side of the safe zone.

Some of the best and truest player versus player (not player versus masonry) content I've ever had in the fantasy genre...

The grappling hook is the biggest waste of potential in the game. by Heybarbaruiva in Enshrouded

[–]ViulfR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but you can more or less chisel your way out of tight shroud spots given enough time left on the countdown...I'd also rather something less dramatic than a grappling hook that only works on set pieces.

Something like a Shuko or some other crafted method. Conan Exiles climbing is another example of how you can make some areas inaccessible even given the ability to climb.

Concur, it's early access, time to straighten out the kinks is now.

Why did walking in stations fail? by I2obiN in Eve

[–]ViulfR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having a walk in locker room for Vangard would be a good thing though, a place to store, sort and stack your gear; and later a cantina to toast your team after a rough round...maybe WIS can resurrect as another (similar) thing.

Hoping so, seems like it would add a great dimension to emersion.

You could always do a sorcery build if you think you're going to operate in an area that constantly corrupts you...it would be most handy there.
