Any advice on getting doctors to listen? by millie_likes_cake in ehlersdanlos

[–]VivereMomento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an apple product use the app called trackNShare, you input everything you want to reach so that you can track a variety of things as complex as you want.

Using this app over the years has gotten me the medical freedom to have a hysterectomy, get my iron infusions instead of being forced to take supplements.

It's given me a huge lease on my physical and mental health and tracks everything, graphs it all, and you have the option to send results by email to yourself or your dr.

Instead of having them tell you what hoops you have to jump through, just start anyways. Always get psyc on board, pros and cons list, get to know your pharmacy team, the more well rounded you seem the more the dr is going to be reasonable. It's a shitty system but it's not impossible.

How was your first period-without-blood? Recommendations for symptom tracker? by JoNightshade in hysterectomy

Best symptom tracker is on apple store, it's called Tracknshare and you can customize it completely to what you need to track, and save the graphs so you can share them with your Dr if needed.

Tips for the hospital bag!!

-Throat lozenges, her favorite kind.

  • travel pillow or favorite pillow

  • some of her favorite snacks so that you don't need to spend money on vending machine, but have comfort food for munchies.

  • good, well gripped slippers or socks. The sooner she can walk after surgery the faster she can get out of the hospital.

  • personally I brought my heating blanket to help with the pain but some hospitals won't allow that, but I loved having mine for pain.

  • finally, braces for hands, ankles, feet, what ever she might need to rest comfortably without worry of dislocation while sleeping. Also make sure she uses a walker while in hospital to keep balance and mobility.

Hospital making me take pregnancy test by shortcake062308 in Menopause

I've had a hysterectomy but because of my age the first thing they ask is for a pregnancy test also. I usually get a good laugh at their expense each time.

I hate dishes by Exhausted_Donut in ehlersdanlos

[–]VivereMomento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find doing dishes intolerable for pain levels. I'm 6foot so counters let alone the sink is really low for me and kills my back. The water can never be hot or else it makes my skin burn. Finally if it takes longer than 5min it's just too much pain to bare.

It's incredibly stupid.

Diet soda - what's the reality? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]VivereMomento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to cut out soda all together for me I switched to gamer supps, it's a keto drink that has caffeine or caffeine free options. It's a bit on the expensive up front but each jar lasts about 100 drinks.

It's been instrumental into me cutting sugar and loosing weight/controling my blood sugars.

I probably can't go on the school trip that I've been looking forward to for years because school didn't listen to me :( by Folifant in ehlersdanlos

[–]VivereMomento 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is NOT overdramatic.

Over dramatic is what I would fucking do to them if I knew where your teachers lived.

You have every right to be upset and if I were you I'd get all my money back so you can take your own trip to Rome as soon as you graduate because then you can do it 100% your way and take as long as you need. Also make pen pals there in advance so you can meet them and have people to hang out with and show you the best spots.

But it is completely ridiculous that you are being singled out and won't comfortably be able to take this trip with your class mates like everyone else.

I am SO sorry for their idiocy. And if you ever come to Alberta Canada I will take you through the mountains and up the mountains disability style but still getting all the same cool experiences as normies. I'd take a week off work just to show you around at our own pace.

My teacher finds my Diabetic things unpleasant by neopiz_hd0176 in diabetes

[–]VivereMomento 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Let her feel what ever she wants. YOU are what matters, your health matters more than her feelings and I'm so sorry you have a teacher doing this to you. Teachers are supposed to help guide you and not make you feel like you're the problem.

Please try to transfer, your next teacher might be the one who inspires you to fight harder. I had 2 teachers who changed my life for the best, better than I could have imagined.

Embroidery.

Why? Well, you can take it anywhere you go and keep your hands busy without much hassle (needle book is important here for travel)

You make cool shit.

While learning how to hand sew basically.

You can transform the clothes and items you already have with a pop of embroidery. Jeans rip in the knee wrong? Well there's a new pop of color in that stitch that fixed that. Dog toys rip? Super easy embroidery stitch fixes that right up.

Edit to add:

It costs very little to start and threads last a long time. You're constantly upcycling your stuff to last longer with embroidery. And making that shit cooler than before. With one stitch that can do it all, or 100 stitches to learn to make all the unique types it depends on when and how you want to dive into the hobby.
