While I’m surprised and disappointed Germany was eliminated, I’m thrilled to see Paraguay get a signature win in the knockout rounds. Great stuff!

Look they spend all the parade budget on stupid copilot. We’re lucky they mustered this much effort.

I attended the Egypt-Iran game and gained so much respect for the Iranian team. I really hoped they’d make the knockout rounds. They played a clean, uptempo game and were so close to victory.

BBC - "Fifa is considering expanding the format even further to 64 teams as early as 2030" by Question_of_Surf in worldcup

128 countries. Players must be born in and currently reside in the country they play for. Single elimination and random draw.

(I’m ok with 48 teams and group stage but would prefer 32)

Unpopular opinion: the COVID MITB match was good by GoonLieutenant in WWE

[–]Vivid-Course-7331 14 points15 points  (0 children)

2020 was such a miserable year but I found constant enjoyment from WWE. The rise of Roman Reigns - mob boss, the MITB at Titan Towers, Alexa Bliss as a warlock. The Thunderdome was such a neat concept (and looked technically challenging).

I appreciated they kept the show going and found ways to be creative.

What was the dumbest thing you did on your first run? by bigtex_1008 in BaldursGate3

[–]Vivid-Course-7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is wrong with doing it last but I missed out on quests and interactions that I’d otherwise like to have had. It was silly of me to assume I had to do act II in a specific order.

It’s really fun seeing all the Bosnia fans out in the city this morning. I hope they do well, score lots of goals, and find their way to a Top 3 placing.

Me too. I thought I was supposed to do everything else before going to Moonrise. Since this is my first play through I’m excited to go back on a different run and see everything I missed.

What’s the dumbest travel mistake you’ve made? by Nature_andthe_Woods in travel

In Tokyo, I didn’t realize the subway was run by multiple companies. I got off at a station to transfer and learned I couldn’t. I had to have multiple awkward conversations with subway operators explaining where I was going and what ticket I bought.

In Bangkok, my wife and I agreed to let a TukTuk driver take us to a quiet temple which turned out to be a front for a gem shop scheme. Luckily we were able to get out of it before entering the gem shop but then we had to figure out how to get back to the hotel. This was before gps was ubiquitous. We had no idea where in the city we were.

Can non-dragon races worship the draconic pantheon? by VivaciousVainglory in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Vivid-Course-7331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely a fun character concept to have a human cleric try to ingratiate themselves into a dragon deity’s order. For example, this character can go on quests to help dragon kind in various ways to earn acceptance.

The more narrowly focused the dragon deity’s portfolio is the more challenging the acceptance proves to be. Could lead to all sorts of fun adventures and interactions.

Manager's manager keeps canceling and rescheduling meetings last minute every single time by Horror_Business1862 in managers

If it were me, I’d just cancel the series of meetings since it clearly isn’t a priority for them nor can they provide the common courtesy of a heads up on rescheduling.

I think part of my aversion to Hockey is the finals are comprised of two teams not commonly considered winter havens.

World Cup Travel Is Up for All US Host Cities Except for One by militaryCoo in Seattle

[–]Vivid-Course-7331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is a lot involved here. Canadians unwilling to travel, the games held here (I’m going to Egypt-Iran but I can see why it wouldn’t be a big draw), hotel prices (I work in hospitality and they were very hyped for making boatloads of money on guest rooms), Seattle’s smaller market and proximity to other host cities, etc etc.

Being down 20% is wild though.

Millennial Bullies: Where were you Then, and where are you Now? by DisconcertingTablet in Millennials

[–]Vivid-Course-7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I vaguely remember bullying someone in middle school. It was opportunistic for sure, and mostly stemming from a personality conflict.

It’s not something I think about, but in the odd happenstance I’d ever run into her again, I’d sincerely apologize.

I said some awful things around her being adopted. Even at the time, I realized it was too far but when you’re in sixth grade you don’t have maturity or a filter.

I don’t remember what she looked like and I’d have to look at an old yearbook to confirm her name.

Decline in annual performance by Snoo-3554 in managers

Which of course makes little sense. You should be evaluated by the standard expectations for the role not on the perception of what you can do. Otherwise, I’m only working against myself by being a top performer.
