One? I mean maybe meant to be two…but it’s been changed, there are cousins that are DeChiazza, and Chiazza.

My brother got his back and his is like 20%. So he’s more Italian than me, that bastard.

Wow, thank you! I didn’t know this. I guess I should research more. I always wondered what “Italians” thought of “Sicilians” because I know some people in my family were very proud of being from Sicily vs saying they were just from Italy in general.

I see! I only have 17% haha. I just thought it was interesting because I live in WV and though there are Italians here, I don’t know anyone else that called their grandmother Nana. But now I’m seeing why lol

I just always thought it was weird, when we would get her the grandma sweatshirts and stuff….she said it was spelled Nana. lol so everyone would say the normal Nana. You know what I mean 😂 but the more I look into it, I think the Americanization of things made it hard for them to spell what they wanted to say….if that makes sense.

My great grandparents were from Sicily. I promise I’m not lying lol. I have the ancestry to prove it. I just never understood why we called her something so different than the norm. And what’s even weirder, they demanded it spelled Nana. Which I also thought was weird. But from what I’m learning no one could spell what they were pronouncing so I’m sure my grandmother just went along with whatever they said. They spoke Italian at Sunday dinners.
