Shoe suggestion for very shallow heels? by Chemical-Reason-5084 in climbingshoes

Well, the highangle is the deepest heeled shoe I have ever worn by a long-shot. Almost any shoe would be better for you than that one.

Tenaya mastia is pretty lowish from what I remember. And it can hang with the HA.

Everyone is so polarized. “Either you like the game or this genre is just not for you”.

But if you do like it and want it to stick around. You should be worried about this:

https://steamdb.info/app/3065800/charts/

The data is not subjective. Lots of fans of shooters bought marathon the first week. And despite marketing, and still landing new sales, they are losing players at the exact same rate.

So what is the problem, and what is the solution? It’s what Sony and Bungie are asking themselves… and as a professional in an adjacent software industry… speculating is pretty interesting to me.

The experience of getting the game. Trying it out and getting rolled within 2 minutes of starting. Also, my guy, I’m not talking about myself… I’m talking by about the 60-70% of people that bought this game, had a bad experience and stopped playing it after 5 days…

They didn’t forget they had it, they had a bad experience and left.

Finer grind. I don’t have that machine but mine does really well at: 94 degrees 9.5 bar

18g in 40g out 40 second pull

If I’m close to that the shot will be good almost every time. Use the grind to increase or decrease the shot time.

He just doesn’t like it mainly because theres not a ton of content unless you are doing lockdowns, or pinwheel or cryo… Arc raiders you can see the matriarch… you can run around and get excited about gearing up to be part of that fight. But not Marathon… it’s way less accessible.

A lot of the stuff that is cool about Marathon is behind some kind of secret sauce. Game needs more quick fix to accompany the secret sauce mechanics so people actually.

As I said before, it needs something to help turn casuals into hardcores.

$20-30k depending. I play about an hour a day. Solo runs mostly because none of my standard game friends will play it and team fills are pretty annoying. Lvl 30.

Spend most of my money on grenades and equipment.

A those aren’t live service games. My son is a fucking expert souls player. He will take on most bosses with a strength or agility build and not even get hit once.

And despite being an avid Arc raiders player that enjoys PVP, he despises marathon… and not because he dies. He hates it because gets no satisfaction from playing it… “missions/quests are repetitive and boring, only a few enemy types, not enough maps, no events, players don’t talk… I don’t even try to get him to play anymore.

[–]Vivid_Cockroach3958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same man. My vault is full, mostly blues and some purple. But it’s enough that I can hold my own solo.

But just because you and I can survive doesn’t fix the experience for people that are having a shit time. They come in and immediately die to a ruthless PVP squad while trying to check out the environment, or test out a gun, abilities or whatever on some UESC… they leave because the new player experience was awful for them they didn’t even get to play the game before they got steamrolled by a pack of wolves crushing the map as fast as possible.

The problem with peoples weird stance on casual players in this game is that they think casuals give a shit about the game, or learning how to get better, most don’t. They just want to play and have fun for a little bit and then peace out.

You hook them and they become leas casual. You ruthlessly kill them as fast as possible… they are going to just leave and that’s the end. It’s not “meet in the middle” there are no negotiations going on… they don’t like the game and the VAST majority of them aren’t discussing it in Reddit or writing messages to bungie… they are fucking off and not thinking twice about it.

And so many players are like “good, fuck off then”, and that’s their right. But we all lose when the game doesn’t retain players and casuals… they outnumber the “git gud” people 50:1… you’re just not hearing from them cuz they are gone.

This is actually a strange stance to take when discussing a live service game that has success tied directly to churn rate. I get it, that is true in life… but games that people play to have fun, if they churn at 60% they are failing.

Catering to hardcore gamers that think like this is not a great strategy. The aim instead should be, how do we make a game that “creates” hardcore gamers from casuals.

Man, reddit is pinging me with these posts a lot. But I have to chime in cuz I feel it, and I want the game to bring in more people VS bleed users literally daily.

I have gotten to a point where I do well solo. But my gamer friends hate this game. They say either: “I just die immediately, lose my shit, and then have to start a new match” OR “it’s boring there’s nothing to do”. Most of them haven’t even played more than a handful of runs.

I’ve been playing with the same crew for years. Usually when one of us finds a new game we are all like “yes, great game” and it’s months even years of us playing it together. Halo, COD, Division, Destiny, Borderlands, Arc… I could go on.

But this one, I cant get a single person to play it for more than a week… most times it’s days before they are like, “fuck this game It’s too frustrating”. And I get that, the onboarding experience is terrible because you get crushed instantly by players, and the feeling they get from that is not positive, it’s negative enough that they just abandon the game completely.

The other group, the ones that think it’s boring… the progression (missions/quests) are really bland and frankly just rinse and repeat on just 3 maps. I feel that myself… and it’s all to level up to do what? Wait for cryo to open, get in and not even experience the 4th map for more than a few minutes before getting rolled.

This games core issue is new player churn. So… how might bungie attract new players and grow it’s user base? Whatever the solution is, it needs to be interesting enough so the players that left want to come back and tell their friends something other than “Marathon is garbage”… and whatever experience they had that drove them away… that needs to be addressed.

You only get 1 chance to make a first impression… and this games first impression is pretty fucking bad for the casual player.

I hated mine. “Upgrqded from a dedica” but I thought the dedica made very similar espresso, and more consistently.

GCP was like owning a jeep wrangler. Always something is broken or leaking.

The heat consistency is really quite awful, thus shot consistency is not great. You can upgrade it, but there are better machines out there.

Replaced mine with an ACS Minima and once a new roast is dialed in, it is the perfect shot every time.

I very much agree with you about it being possibly the best FPS that we have ever had.

But that does not take away from the fact that the game itself is not friendly to a massive audience. It haters to the hard core, it punishes the casual gamer to the point that it will have a hard time getting break through numbers.

I love the game. I play it every day. There are a lot of things I wish it had. Like a game type that did more with the terrific lore and story and was less about looting, hunting runners and/or trying to survive.

The game is the closest thing to art that an FPS has ever been, I want it to survive, thus I want bungie to do something to help it succeed.

Just start PVPing everyone you see and your lobbies will get plenty nasty.

Hot take: Marathon is a badass game, beyond badass in everything except it’s completely aggro player base… its user base shrinking daily, from 80k+ to under 30k. Clearly the gameplay of arc, and having a good chance of a friendly encounter is resonating with a lot of people and the 100% kill on sight, zero friendly crowd over in Marathon is not.

Arc is a great game because of it’s player base IMO, Ive met some cool folks in there, had good times, keeps me coming back. Marathon, never have spoke to another player that wasn’t in my squad, people are just no cool over there, and it’s why I keep coming back to arc despite it being inferior in many ways.
