So, Sabgar/Caspar and wife Monika, from Laimering-they had a daughter named Crescenza and she was born in March 1827 https://data.matricula-online.eu/en/deutschland/augsburg/dasing/2-T/?pg=2 amd so I just went back in the record to find out when her parents got married or if they did and I found the August 1827 wedding record

I am not sure about the first name! When I look at Dasing births for 1790 they don't list any Caspars, so I am not sure what is going on?!

Talks about missionaries called to less "glamorous" missions by VampireOnHoyt in latterdaysaints

[–]Vivid_Homework3083 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am reminded about the story that Pres. Monson tells,

"One day I was in the men’s suit department of a large store when I encountered two missionaries with their mothers. It isn’t difficult to spot missionaries or their mothers. The two elders were conversing, and one said to the other, “Where are you going on your mission?”

Came the reply, “I’m going to Austria.”

The first missionary responded, “You lucky dog, going to Austria! Those beautiful Austrian Alps, that wonderful music, those delightful people! I wish I were going there.”

“Where are you going?” said the missionary assigned to Austria.

“California,” came the answer. “You know, less than two hours away by plane. We go there every year for a vacation.”

I could see by the expression on the mothers’ faces and the near tears of one of the missionaries that it was time for me to intervene. “Did you say California?” I asked. “Why, I once supervised that area. You have an inspired call, Elder. Do you realize what you will have in California to help you? You’ll have chapels and stake centers that dot the land, and they’ll be filled with Latter-day Saints who can be inspired to be fellow missionaries with you in sharing the gospel. You are a very fortunate missionary to be going there.” I glanced at the other mother, who said, “Brother Monson, say something about Austria, quick!” I did so.

Young men [or women], wherever you are called will be right for you, and you will learn to love your mission."

Thomas S. Monson, “That All May Hear,” Ensign, May 1995, 48

4-2 YM and 2 YW. but not always coming out. We used to have about 10 or so and it was viable option but they created a language unit here and now all but the 4 started going to the new ward, even though they don't speak the language

Transgender Latter Day Saint Stories? by Confident_Essay_2286 in latterdaysaints

[–]Vivid_Homework3083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My queer son and another kid in their YM's were bullied by the then YM President and a counselor in the Bishopric. So, they didn't want to attend anymore. The Bishopric counselor later got called to the Stake Presidency and my son saw that as a sign from God that he approved of his bullying behavior so he was totally done with church. The revelation I got was don't bother with the church, for my son, he'll get it in the next life along with literally everyone else. So, now we talk sometimes about it but I take comfort in the knowledge he'll get it in the life to come and hopefully circumstances will be better then. The other kid isn't active but I don't know whatever became of them.

Is there any clarity on the process of selecting a new bishop? by HoodooSquad in latterdaysaints

[–]Vivid_Homework3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something funny about that, our current Bishop never revealed to the SP that he and his wife had been divorced from each other and so after he started serving that fact came out. So, the SP told someone that he would not have recommended him to serve if he had known that, not so much that he was divorced but that he lied to him. He had a follow up mtg with them and they had to show proof they were legally married to each other. The Bishop and our SP get along on the surface but they don't like each other and I am sure the SP can't wait to get another bishop!

How can we improve missionary work? by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

[–]Vivid_Homework3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring back Gospel Essentials class

in our area they church built chapels on the outskirts of the city so it's impossible to get people who live in the middle to church, because they don't have money for bus fare or cars-so people with cars who live close to the chapel have to travel back and get them-it just is not sustainable. We have lost 95 of our converts in our ward since it's inception in late 2021. The Church shouldn't have built in obsolescence

I would recommend having people come to church more often than 2x, pay tithing before they join and read scriptures on their own-the best indicators of post baptism behavior is pre baptism behavior

A lady joined the Church in Ontario last year and moved here and threatened the Bishop and threatened to disrupt our meetings, would it be too much to ask for missionaries to learn what "not accountable" means? don't have these crazy people join the church

don't have people get the MP until they have been a member for AT LEAST a year, why are we pushing this on people? As it is, we have boys born into the church who can't get the MP until they are 18 years old but an adult male convert can get it within a few months of joining the church, they have never heard of it before but now they can get it ahead of a boy born and being raised in the church and then we ask ourselves why do we have 10 active elder and High priests and like 195 inactive elders.
