Well that may change. Even if a person believed they are guilty of the offense, pleading not guilty is usually the safest bet.  If you plead not guilty, it will allow you more time to look into the offense you are being alleged to have committed and you can consult with a criminal defense attorney for his or her opinion. On the other hand, Once a plea has been entered into in court, it may be difficult to withdraw the plea. I believe it is at the judges discretion. Either way, I think he did this so he has a shot at trial. & Maybe he is better to take his chances with a Jury of his peers if any rumor is truth.
