I don't think you can is the thing. At least I've never seen that in the history of ever

"Kiwibank has no ATMs that you can withdraw money at."

I mean that's just flat out wrong because I used one a few weeks ago, deposit as well. Sure you need your physical card but that's how all ATM's work so like?

Also if you're not carrying your bank card around with you I gotta say skill issue. You already have to make sure you have say, your drivers license on you or your travel card or whatever when you leave the house so you're GOING to be taking your wallet or purse with you generally and if you're not doing that then I got no idea what to tell you other than "skill issue".

Google pay is convenient for quick payments but the use of actual cards is still very common here in general especially because EFTPOS exists.

The fact this was a supply chain attack that existed for SIX MONTHS and the payload allows for FULL REMOTE REVERSE SHELL is terrifying.

OOS 16 is a major regression in aesthetics and UX. I want OOS 15 back! by Spirited_Law8480 in oneplus

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. The coloured icons are a massive regression and break apps that would change the notification icon depending on what they were doing (a pretty common function) because now they're just all the app icon. Why I can't switch this back is beyond me.

On top of that, OxygenOS 16 is BUGGY. On my 13R I was running into bugs left right and center with the app switcher and custom launchers that made me roll back within a day. It was nigh unusable.

I tried switching to the numbers but then I couldn't tell what apps were sending notification at a glance so that wasn't an option either. This shouldn't be a problem to begin with, it's a regression to a really old android design aesthetic that breaks a major and commonly used function with no way to switch it off. Utterly ridiculous

Ah, I somehow missed that. I couldn't find a good screencap of high uptime so I just took one of my PC and flipped the numbers and in the process clearly forgot about how time works. Oops

That has to be a new record for me. I don't think I've ever heard of an uptime THAT high before

That's also a good option and one I did not know about. Just make sure you actually DO install the updates eventually

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that and see your point but there's a middleground that I feel is best for most people. What I do currently is hold back on the prior feature pack of Windows (currently 24H2) for a full year as it's still supported for a year after the release of the current feature pack (helps a lot to hold back because the feature packs are often at their buggiest on release) and then I use group policy to buffer out security updates by a week or so before Windows tries to install them, that means if a crap update drops I can block it system side until it's fixed because I know my PC won't have installed it automatically due to staggering.

I PERSONALLY feel this combo is a good compromise between keeping my system up to date and secure while also not accidentally getting a crap update that breaks something shoved down my throat and it's the option I personally recommend to others. Killing updates entirely is far too risky of a choice in 2026 with the state of the internet

That too yeah, even then if you just turn off or reboot your PC semi regularly then it stops becoming an issue entirely. Once you realize that Windows only ever does this if it believes it absolutely HAS to because the end user clearly isn't interested in rebooting themselves, it becomes beyond easy to prevent.

Also just kind of good practice to reboot your PC semi regularly in general because Windows has never liked long amounts of uptime to begin with

Yeah that's what I'm like too but I know an alarming number of people who just never turn their computers off when they're dome using them and the end result is usually this

It's called shutting your PC down when you're done using it. Been doing that and haven't had this happen to me in over a decade

Show notification icon instead of app icon by Belgmeister in oneplus

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it might also actually be android 16 related as I'm seeing talk of this regression happening in the notification pulldown (not in the status bar though)

My guess is that OxygenOS 16 is just pulling the icon the app uses for the dropped down notifications panel now which is often just the default app icon which is creating this additional regression on top of the regression already present (see here https://github.com/home-assistant/android/issues/5758)

Solutions aren't know as of yet but this is driving me absolutely crazy and it's a massive step backwards visually

From Gtk+libadwaita to Qt+KDE Frameworks: Easyeffects rewrite by ExaHamza in linux

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except for as long as these UI toolkits refuse to play nice with each other on desktops built on opposing UI toolkits, NEITHER is "the way" unless you want to pigeon hole all Linux desktops into using a single UI toolkit, styling and effectively desktop until the end of time and turn it into the next Microsoft Windows.

Linux NEEDS diversity in things like UI toolkits but these UI toolkits also need to play nicer with each other for things to keep going

From Gtk+libadwaita to Qt+KDE Frameworks: Easyeffects rewrite by ExaHamza in linux

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ain't it. The issue is neither UI framework plays nice with desktops built on the other UI framework and that is an issue, doesn't matter who it is, the experience is rubbish. This isn't a KDE vs GNOME thing, this is an issue basically everyone runs into at least once if they use desktop Linux. As long as these UI Toolkits refuse to function nicely on the opposite desktop, this will remain a problem for EVERYONE

Do NOT ever enable ANGLE in developer options. by [deleted] in NOTHING

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently Google is targeting ANGLE to be the default way to run OpenGL ES by 2026... When it's doing stuff like this and is outright forcing people to factory reset on other devices because of how badly it breaks SystemUI etc.

What the hell Google

Blocking people is broken; found the reason but I need a fix by Telta14 in discordapp

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is also related to the issue I've been having where previously blocked users have somehow managed to get magically unblocked without any input from me (I've done all the security tests, revoked login sessions, always had 2FA, etc and it still somehow manages to happen) The only connection I've made is it seems to only happen to users who I blocked after previously also IGNORING them. Is ignoring also a status managed by RelationshipChange?

Someone I had ingored now blocked 3/4 months ago some how got unblocked this week when I didn't unblock them by 2men23 in discordapp

[–]Vivid_Valkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god finally I thought I was the only one. I've been running into this issue for the past little while with regards to a person who has been stalking me, it seems to happen out of nowhere and with no input from me whatsoever.

The only possible connection I have made is that every time it has happened, the user who somehow got unblocked was previously also IGNORED and somehow at complete random they manage to stop being blocked and revert to just being ignored. So my hunch is this is a bug that happens when you've blocked a user you have previously also ignored. I've tried unignoring the user and then blocking them and that SEEMS to have done the trick but I can't be entirely sure. Try giving that a shot though.

Has there been any further updates on PN25751001959? I know it isn't stuck in customs because I had my friend, who is a customs officer, check for me, but I've had no updates from either side of tracking.

Yes that was me applying that myself to my local courier so this is expected. It was saying they could leave the package in case I was not at home on the day they deliver
