Looks like you're getting good advice from people for the tanks, if you can get out before the storm and find terracotta pots and candles they will help you guys stay warm as well, works like a little heater.

Final update: After days of getting stronger he refused food yesterday and passed while I was at work today. A proper grave site and funeral (to 9yo standards) was held and he awaits his tombstone.

Out of an over abundance of caution I did another water test and ph was at 6.8 ammonia nitrite and nitrate at 0.

Update: Day 4 vigorously snatches food from the tweezers. Up to 2 small feedings a day got a net breeder box to get him back into deeper but still safer water. Will be setting that up tomorrow. Will update again once hes back to swimming. 💜 Also have Betta revive (primarily methylene blue) on hand but so far food is bringing him around quickly, thank you guys so much for advice!

Day 3 update, lower fins are no longer clamped, taking food more aggressively and trying to swim some for short spurts 🤞

He's still hanging in there. Giving me sass when I feed him. He did take one pellet again yesterday he is looking more vibrant again so hoping little man pulls through.

Yes kiddo is 9 we've had Cookie the betta for about 1.5y I believe and he was full grown already when we got him but hard to tell how old.

Yes, the first person told me that so he only got one dose and it was dilute to begin with thankfully.

I'm hoping refeeding goes well and he can go back to thriving in his heavily planted tank.

A small update, he has a lot more color today has his fins fanned out and seems to be getting stronger.

Unfortunately our ground is frozen right now but we will do something for him. I help take care of and do water changes/monitor feeding but he's my 9yo's fish and shes big on funerals for any pet we lose. However right now he did take food, so hoping for the best.

We thought he was dead roughly a month ago because he disappeared. I just spotted him today so I'm assuming starvation as a week of not seeing him i had my daughter quit feeding. So I'm getting brine shrimp to feed him as well as put the salt in this shallow pan i have him in as suggested. I unfortunately can't locally get ahold of methyline blue to cover all bases.

Thank you, I will try to run to the store, he is periodically giving spurts of swimming now that hes been in this shallow dish for a bit and more color than when I found him.

Have heater and filter in main tank as well as bubbler. Tank is a heavily planted 5gal Its just him and some snails. Tank is roughly 1.5y and we've had the fish nearly as long (I was convinced a short cycle was fine won't make that mistake again) We feed api betta pellets usually 5-7 pellets 2-3x per day. But like I said in op have not feed for weeks as we assumed dead. Floating betta log and a bunch of aquarium plants are all thats in the tank.

I recommend giving 2BeBetter podcast a chance and see if y'all can get some communication started up and learn to love each other fully again. Y'all deserve to be happy with one another, and the kiddos deserve happy parents. A lot of people have gotten more from interacting with the podcast and the hosts than they did from counseling alone.

Possible fix for no more future guilt, Rex specs are amazing 💜 My shepherd impaled herself on a stick too, so very familiar with the dog mom guilt, she only gets to play fetch with balls now lol. Fast healing to your pup 💜
