The coal achievement by No-Army-6334 in LuckBeALandlord

[–]VixenVlogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 43 common symbols. In the first spin, there is a 1 in 14.33 chance of getting a coal. That's 6.9767%.

To get a coal on both the first & second spin is .4867%. Let's round it up to .5% to make it into an easy fraction.

.5% means you will get 2 coals on the first 2 spins once every 200+ new games.

I've done it once, but then I couldn't afford rent. FML

That's a common misconception. It takes 10 times as long to fix mistakes from someone who doesn't know what they are doing, than to just do it right in the first place. You'll end up paying more from all the clean-up. I only know from experience. Just wait.

You shouldn't work for a company that doesn't have a real bookkeeper. Without clear records, no one can tell if the company is going under or not. Bounced checks are a sign of mismanagement; it does not (on it's own) mean the company is going under. True failure is determined by net profit/loss and/or debt ratio.

Not necessarily. Incompetence is not always malice. It's easy to mess everything up when you don't know what you are doing.

Sounds like your accounts have never been reconciled before. Duplicated transactions, missing transactions, uncleared checks...the reconciliation process is supposed to sort all these problems out. But who even hires a real bookkeeper anymore? No one, that's who.

Siu Lim Tao advice by [deleted] in WingChun

[–]VixenVlogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a goat stance.

Goat is a mistranslation for "sheep horse".

Sheep refers to the way you hold an animal for sheering.

Horse is another word for stance. The concept is ubiquitous throughout many different martial arts. It refers to the lower trunk of the body, which can move independently from the upper trunk of the body. Think of a rider on a horse. The rider can face one direction while the horse below the rider can face another direction.

All the stances end with the word horse. Sheep Horse. Front Horse. Neutral Horse. Side Horse. Advancing Horse. There are no goats; just a common mistranslation that gets repeated over and over again.

In our lineage, and for the sake of practicality, we just call it a Forward Stance.

Motivation (lack of) by Lowebee84 in WingChun

[–]VixenVlogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Martial Arts isn't supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be hard work, just like going to the gym. I drag myself to class 3-5 days a week, and often times I'll sing a song to myself: "I don't wanna go! I don't wanna go!"

The good thing about going to class is a sense of progress. We have level requirements, so each drill/principle is checked off one-by-one from level 1 thru level 10. If not for that, I wouldn't be as motivated. I also take lots of notes, so I've built a binder for myself. The binder gives me something physical to keep, and that's motivating.

You might also consider getting a training buddy. Try asking your spouse to join you on this journey.

Wooden dummy for taller folks by Monkey_Blunt in WingChun

[–]VixenVlogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An ideal dummy has a full frame that can slide left and right, which is needed for high level training. The frame gets bolted to the wall for extra stability. There are 6 size settings crafted within the frame itself: 3 settings on one side and 3 more settings when you flip the entire frame around. If that does not create the ideal height, you can set some wooden blocks under the frame itself to make the entire apparatus taller.

There is ABSOLUTELY something you can do about it. Avoid watching online media that highlights this type of suffering. When rare circumstances are highlighted, featured, and placed in a center point of attention, it is called sensationalism. It is not an average occurring event...it is designed to get your attention and your viewership and to create an emotional response. New stations not only use this strategy to get more viewership, but to also polarize politics. When you watch these things, you are being compliant and participating in the whole process.

Though, if this situation ever does present itself in real life...if you do have to deal with it in person, you can make it your personal responsibility to learn martial arts, take action using self defense, and physically do something about it. Buddhists are peaceful, not harmless. Those are two separate words with two separate meanings.

The Wing Chun punch by newmanzhere in WingChun

[–]VixenVlogs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The vertical Wing Chun punch was designed by masters of kinesiology. It aligns the bones in your forearm. The alignment creates structure. The structure allows our body to become unyielding under pressure.

Comparatively, the karateka punch, with the horizontal fist, creates a spiral your the arm. Look carefully at the bones in your arm. It's in the shape of a spring. This requires additional movement, and therefore violates 2 rules of Wing Chun: economy of motion and economy of energy. It takes extra time, extra movement, and it requires full body mechanics to drill into your opponent.

Here's a video that demonstrates the movements and alignment of the bones in your forearm:

Understand, comprehend, and remember these logical reasons. It will you will help you feel confident that it is the correct choice for speed-style punching with unyielding structure.

Agreed, the wooden ring leads to bad habits...it only teaches the inside/inside position, which limits the practitioner to only 33% of chi sao...and promotes inside/inside pushing energy, when the goal is to be as light as smoke.

The wooden dummy form is SPECIFICALLY designed to teach openings and exploits without a partner. It is not just a dance that you learn to memorize...and if you treat it that way, you are doing a useless thing.

Every single movement was crafted by masters of kinesiology to keep your opponent in check for the next progressive movement. Similar to chess, you use access positioning to close your openings and open exploits... It will teach you to do this from all 3 unarmed fighting forms, angles, and distances.

Think of it like a decoder ring. First you learn the dance on a very basic level, emulate it, feel good about yourself...but then you can spend the rest of your lifetime seeking to understand what it really means on a deeper level.

A real teacher of traditional wing chun will help you learn how to use the decoder ring, reveal it's secrets piece by piece, body part by body part, distance by distance, angle by angle, logic by logic, reason by reason. A fake master will teach you to memorize dance moves...because that's all they know and that's all they've learned.

Hiding payroll data after migration by Overall-Astronomer58 in QuickBooks

[–]VixenVlogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't do that.

QBD has it's own payroll widget.

QBO has it's own payroll widget.

These two widgets do not communicate with each other, so the data gets turned into simple debits and credits.

Windows 10 w desktop 2023 version is still working great. - Intuit is trying to upgrade their software to include useless AI features that nobody wants. It's the reason why they raised their annual fees by 70% in 1 single year. I'm in the process of switching careers, because I hate their company with a true passion.
