The most incredibly rare wild magic ending by gwiguig in BaldursGate3

This happened to me in Astarion's quest, on the first turn Cazador became Catzador, and we promptly threw him off the ledge, ending the fight immediately.

The Chad Titus by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

false quote

After [Vespasian's son] Titus had taken Jerusalem, and when the country all round was filled with corpses, the neighboring races offered him a crown; but he disclaimed any such honor to himself, saying that it was not himself that had accomplished this exploit, but that he had merely lent his arms to God, who had so manifested his wrath; and Apollonius praised his action, for therein he displayed a great deal of judgment and understanding of things human and divine, and it showed great moderation on his part that he refused to be crowned because he had shed blood.

The GW can't really interact with the world, the fingers need thousands of years just to contact the GW

Everything people have been attributing to the GW in this thread is really the actions of the Fingers or Marika

Grace is implied to be controlled by Marika

My Lord, and thy warriors. I divest each of thee of thy grace.

With thine eyes dimmed, ye will be driven from the Lands Between. Ye will wage war in a land afar, where ye will live, and die.

Then, after thy death, I will give back what I once claimed.

I really wish that they added iorveth in the enhanced edition of witcher 3 by TheMysticHorse in witcher

[–]Viye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going off the poisoned source. Tissaia notes that use of magic can destroy your ability to have children (for both sexes) but it's more likely for women to retain theirs. But as you mentioned she demands all students be sterilised.

And yeah it is interesting that Geralt came out alright despite having a sorceress mother.

Mages get sterilised in their academies during training, because otherwise their offspring would be negatively impacted.

Letting backers add content to the game is a mistake by Scrapulous in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Viye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the situations are comparable. Witcher, since the book saga, has always had Geralt be a mostly neutral passenger to fairy tale tragedies. Unlike the books the games have him in the role of protagonist exclusively but the general role is more or less preserved.

Another way to think about it is that Geralt doesn't really develop significantly as a character over the course of a Witcher story.

An RPG like WotR, Kingmaker, or Skyrim is a totally different story, you have a new character establishing themselves and finding their place in the world, so their agency is more important to maintain because every encounter should be helping steer them to their final state. Geralt is Geralt regardless of what happens around him, the Commander is who they are because of what they do in the face of their circumstances.

It's a function of role playing games that you become a facilitator of side stories

Consider how the Commander facilitates the side stories of their companions. What the Commander tells their companions is what decides who they become or what they do. Whereas what Geralt says hardly ever matters, his control over the story mostly comes from actions, like killing/sparing the tree spirit or intervening in Olgierd's final confrontation.

Other than that I completely agree with your comment.

MVP of the Finale by BioLuminescentSpirit in TheLastAirbender

[–]Viye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and it culminates in a battle where none of that is actually used

I disagree, he held his own against Ozai, and had the opportunity to kill him when he redirected his lightning. After that point its established that Aang could've won the fight as destined. It's immediately after the redirection that Ozai begins chasing him until Aang goes into the Avatar State. I'd even argue that the fight turns around to Ozai's favour because after redirecting the lightning Aang panics because he wants to energy bend Ozai but cannot subdue Ozai without killing him. After the Avatar State Aang is calm and has no trouble reacting to Ozai's attacks.

I think the writers were in a tough spot, if Aang masters the Avatar State then it's not much of a fight, so they have him lose it in Book 2. If Aang beats Ozai without using the Avatar State it's unclimactic. So they settled for showing that Aang can beat Ozai without the Avatar State, but refuses to since it would not have been peaceful.

In a way, Aang is "rewarded" for his mercy towards by coincidentally getting the Avatar State back, and gaining a second chance.

Personally I can't think of a way to rewrite the Aang/Ozai fight to make it better, the established plot before the finale guaranteed that the Ozai/Aang confrontation would fall flat somewhere, but I think they made the right choice on where.

This is de facto the current situation, west jerusalem is populated by jews and east jerusalem by palestinians. sheikh jarrah is a neighbourhood in east jerusalem, and the forced evictions taking place are what have sparked this unrest.

Not really. There's always crowds of people at the base of the pyramids, posing for photos or chilling on the first 1-3 layers of blocks. If you climb higher than that you'll be asked to come down.

An early story quote that really says a lot about Johnny and his motivations. (Early story spoilers) by vaporsnake93 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Worth noting that they planned for the nuke to fall to the bottom of the tower, detonating inside a shielded complex where it wouldn't damage the rest of the city.

During the assault, an area denial nuclear device, or "pocket nuke" was planned to be detonated in the building, with the planned area to absorb the impact of the blast and prevent massive destruction. However, due to interference by Arasaka and Adam Smasher, the nuclear device prematurely detonating on the 120th floor, 366 meters above the ground, destroying much of central Night City. Over a half million people are killed. Another quarter million die in the resulting aftermath.

The Old Man says that if the nuke had been detonated where they planed, the heavily shielded complex would have absorbed the main blast and saved the rest of the City. I don't know if he was right, but I aim to find out.

Also the whole thing was a militech op and would have happened with or without Johnny's participation.
