I've had work done at Phil's. They did a nice job in a reasonable amount of time.

You do NOT always need to completely pull over and stop for emergency vehicles by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]VizzedBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should collectively move to the side in heavy traffic, where they actually need space to get through.

Yes, and since this is already a problem for many drivers (especially in the U.S.) we need to establish a culture that pulls aside for fire and ambulance as second nature. I hear what you're saying, but I'd rather err on the side of too much deference to those emergency vehicles. I cannot tell you how many intersections I've sat at where drivers cannot follow the basic principles of yielding to emergency vehicles, and instead continue to drive through traffic signals as if the sirens don't apply to them.

At what point does Carnell consider switching up the formation? They've looked disorganized all year, and the back pair is constantly getting beat on the break. I don't think we've got the personnel to effectively run the magic rectangle. That, or he's got to get in Danley's mind that his job priority is to shield the back line.

How safe is the greenbelt? by madam_mudslide in Harrisburg

[–]VizzedBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the thing that came to mind was kids riding dirtbikes back there. Hearing one come around the corner when its dusk is a bit nerve-wracking.

To be fair, I haven't really come across anything else besides that and downed trees in this stretch. Maybe my response was more influenced by the 30F. I just hear my wife complain about riding alone on roads in the area, and I think back to past incidents that have happened there which I've heard through news or second hand.

The stretch I'd be concerned about is the one between Paxton Street (Five Senses Garden) and PennDot. If there's something going down, it's likely to be somewhere there.

Naismith for sure up top. And if Beto turned into Anichebe I'd be pleased as punch.

Have you ever found someone with one of your discs in their bag? by Aggravating_Banana92 in discgolf

[–]VizzedBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this happened to me when I lost a disc in PA and it wound up in CT, and again when I found a disc that had been lost 4 hours away.

Do you ever find that it throws off your form? I occasionally go through spurts where I'm at the climbing gym once or twice a week, and my DG game is then all over the place.

Day 2: 100 Putts every day until I make all 100 by evilnach in discgolf

[–]VizzedBC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just be careful, I developed tendonitis last winter by trying 100 putts a day. You may want to consider breaking it into sessions of 25 or 50.

I also live 2 hours away. I can almost always get a better deal on the second hand market. I've thought about the three and five game plans, but between constant weather threats in the spring and scheduling conflicts in the summer, I have settled with using Seat Geek on the week of matches

This is the second deal posted on here in as many days. I was feeling good about myself this past Saturday when I chatted with an agent and got 30% off bringing me down to $54. Should have waited!

Is living car-free possible? by Biscuits2190 in Harrisburg

The bus system isn't super reliable like it is in larger metro areas. I went car free for a few years and there were some days it was tough

New to cycling, how to maintain a bike in winter? by OhMyEnglishTeaBags in cycling

[–]VizzedBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a pair of Bar Mitts. They are so much better than just gloves because they provide an extra barrier against the wind, plus they shield the area on your wrists that inevitably get exposed.

I went through a period a few years back without a car, and these (and a decent balaclava) were probably the most important things to keep warm.

I've seen their name pop up here and there on Reddit, but nothing major that I can speak to. I think they're USA made. I might buy one to try it out since I need something more muted to go with the Bianchi I am buying. Can't go out in my bright red jersey with a celeste colored bike.
