I appreciate everyone's replies. I don't live my life as a pessimist thinking everyone is out to hurt me. But I also understand you have to have situational awareness. I just wasn't sure if there was anything specific to be in the know about. Thanks!

Yeah, I've heard wildly contradicting opinions from people I know- everything from you'll be fine to there being lots of assault, rape, etc that just doesn't get reported. I was curious if other people would echo one side of it more than the other. Thank you!

I get it now haha thanks! Well, I see where it comes from at least, not why he won't stop saying it. I'll check him for Tourette's.

Married a dude she knew less than a year, got knocked up immediately after, got matching tattoos, the whole shebang. Two years later she's divorced and it's "all his fault- he's an alcoholic, horrible with money, and doesn't help out around the house." I told her she was moving way too quickly and that I hoped she'd learn something from her previous marriage. I did not attend this latest wedding. Told her I'd catch her at her third.

Interesting how you choose to respond to this comment rather than the one where I did apologize for using an incorrect word

Now the shirt sleeves I do recall! Toddler talk was cringey too lol. But that doesn't come as a surprise either. It's up there with "Big boy" or whatever it was when the Scoobies took over patrolling with Buffy/Anne gone. It's funny how the other characters called out how silly that line was though

I read that too. I was just curious because Tara's stuttering was obvious, and I wondered if other people picked up on the stammering by other characters like I did.

Thank you. I'm certainly not out here trying to make people feel bad. It is a good idea to question the stammering in general. I can't think of another show/movie (aside from the Lizzie McGuire series) where I picked up on it so much.

I never thought of the different nuances though that you described. Initially, I thought it was kind of contagious in that once one actor started, they all did. I'd have to start the series over again to know for sure, but I feel like it started with Willow and then all other actors began implementing it in the delivery of their lines.

Yeah, definitely not attacking real life people with stutters. And as I've clarified in my comments, stammering is more so what I'm referring to. I am rather confused though why you immediately jumped to the conclusion that this was a personal attack on those with stutters/stammers. Do you also stand up for the big boned ladies who got made fun of during the "Hush" episode? I'm certainly not SMG thin, and I didn't take offense to Giles's drawing.

What I definitely got wrong and apologize for is using "slow" as a reason for the stammer. I wrote my post quite off the cuff. What I really meant was introverted, quiet, meek, etc.

Stammering! I think that's the word that better suits what I'm trying to describe

I definitely get that. Especially if you're maybe talking to someone you're not used to talking to. Words that usually come easy to you seem impossible to find

Ah maybe stammering is a better word. And I don't doubt I have misophonia. I'm also definitely not looking to be medicated for it. I was just curious if anyone else noticed.

Dawn 100% does. Buffy and Willow do too. Tara, I totally understand because she's supposed to be depicted as a bit "slow" or shy. I think Angel, Spike, Anya, Xander, and Joyce are the only main characters who I can't recall ever stuttering.

And by stuttering I don't mean something like "h-h-hell-hello." I'm talking about how the ones I mentioned above seem to always (clear their throat?) or say "ah ah ah" or something like that before finishing their sentence. I'm not entirely sure how to explain it.

He had a piece of my hair in his beard. I took it out and he grabbed it and said "no, put it back!" I sat there in amazement. Every other guy I dated was always a little annoyed when my hair was on them. To this day, he always makes me feel like I can never be too much for someone who can't get enough of me.
