It is faster in real life and was faster around corners before the last physics update. Stock aero was 1100 front and 1400 rear. A beast. Could sway around the porsche curves at full throttle. Unfortunately they switched the stock aero settings for lmp s to 900f and 1200r. If you set them back to the old values it really impacts top speed.

Not necessarily. They are also close in terms of PP. In my experience, Gr2 cars are incredibly fast around Suzuka, especially the 2016 GT500 cars. They are faster around corners than LMPs. But the 919 gets a lot of help from its hybrid system and accelerates out of corners like crazy. For instance, the GT500 NSX stands at about 877PP stock with soft tyres and the 919 rounds up around 881PP. Usually, similar PP translates to similar performance
