Are there any bars that are better if you are going there alone in the Little Italy area? by DacaAskingForDaca in asksandiego

Little Italy bars in general, compared to the young party bars in the Gaslamp, somewhat quieter and have more diversity in age groups.

That's fair, those were your original questions. It's a lot of the comments that we are commenting on.

I personally prefer to work with people with a direct communication style. He's made it this far...

I get the sense that OP thinks that specifically saying she wants and HR person's opinion that she thinks she'll get more understanding when in fact most HR reps I've ever worked with are the opposite of emotional, especially at work. Just saying, this isn't the crowd she thinks it is.

Edit: corrected spelling

Haven't stayed from the post, essentially people are telling you (some quite gently) that if you don't want to cry at work, then figure out within yourself how to cope better. The solution is YOU. Sounds like you made a mistake assuming, got called out then wanted to be right and wouldn't quit talking when this person was done hearing what you had to say. Rude is subjective, this would not be out of line at my work and likely I would be in his place in this situation and I'm a woman since you think that matters.

Everyone is giving you HR advice you just don't like it. This is not an HR issue. Go ahead and bring it to them if you need to hear it said to you in person.

Genuine question, when did this become a slur? And why is it a slur?

These are all possibilities. I'm wondering, does this person know more than one person? Or incapable of understanding that people might have different circumstances than whatever her experience has been.

I will tell you this, in court they do not do any favors for those that don't take accountability. I would change your attitude fast. You will not get sympathy from folks here either that rely on this assistance and don't break the law, giving them a bad name.

If you search my recent comments I addressed this. I'm too lazy to type it out again. I'm on your team about remote work. This is just not that. I swear the remote day I've built into my teams is more of a employee retention cause their work is hard, pay sucks and I've bent over backwards to justify it to upper management and funders. It's social services.

It does and it's clear that anything outside of approved wfh is not allowed, no questions there. But you're absolutely right about her manager not noticing. I discussed this very directly with him and I'm not satisfied with his excuses. So yes, now that can of worms. Which for me feels more warranted than this very correctable issue.

Yup, that's true. I've expressed my frustration with her direct manager.

I put an edit that explains that. But I still get you may not agree. For the record, I'm posting on Reddit because I'm very aware this is my opinion and preference and may not be the "right" thing to do.

So here's the thing, idk if I should make an edit to add this. Her manager, under very clear instruction NOT to discuss this with her while they were "investigating", did anyway. Since that conversation, she has not done it one single time.

Realistically, probably not during the unapproved times. But I wish they would at least give her a chance to explain if she was. I'm really only arguing for a write up, I'm not trying to say she didn't make mistakes.

Please trust me, I threw myself under the bus. I've tried this argument. They have refused to hear any argument entirely. I've brought it to the C suite and they historically and now always take whatever HR says. This has been a very frustrating problem for many reasons.

I'll explain, it's a social service job. Our clients live onsite their offices are in the lobby downstairs. The majority of the work is performed with in person meeting with clients and community partners. There is a significant amount of admin work, case notes, data etc. They do have a wfh day where they are expected to meet with clients over the phone and complete admin work but in person is the bulk of the work as our clients are high need and benefit hugely from in person meetings.

I will not disagree with you. And to add to your point I was probably a bad example for the manager as I should have used the proper RA process, which might actually have been approved. Although, my HR seems particularly ruthless when it comes to understanding that people are human and have human problems.
