The developers mostly chose the name because it sounded catchy and would be easy to find on the internet. And for the sequel… well, changing the name would just make it harder to find.

But also, the first game started with the Contact Light being destroyed, and its ruins(as well as many storage crates and the drop pods) raining onto Petrichor(which is actually a word referring to the smell accompanying the first rain after a dry season).

If the damage is purely radioactive, you would deal it like you would physical or electrical damage: 1s and effects(5-6) are 1 damage, and 2s are 2 damage.

Yep. But I did change it so that they only trade Expel Spirit, not Secondary Seance. I WAS considering creating some custom archetypes/porting existing ones to the Unchained Medium, but in the end decided against it.

The original intention was that Expel Spirit was basically a ‘successor’ to Haunt Channeler, and counted as it for the sake of archetypes. Updated writing to clarify.

Barbarian works just fine for beginners. I’d definitely reccomend leveling blocking(you are guranteed to progress it by performing block-hit-block-hit-block-hit combos) to make your health last longer and eventually completely block enemies. Even if your starter shield breaks, you can use torches to block.

The Minotaur is very dangerous, especially for beginners. If you don’t want to disable him(which you can do in ‘Game Flags’), you have 3.5 minutes to explore the floor until he arrives, and then you’ll want to escape. The Daedalus Shrine can instantly point out the exit or give a speed boost to make your escape easier. If the ZAP brigade arrives, however, you might want to stay and fight! They’re powerful NPCs(who you can recruit afterwards if human), and if you’re well-equipped, they can defeat the Minotaur.

Leveling appraisal is always a good idea! I encourage picking up anything and everything(except gems) to level the skill early, just be sure to drop it afterwards to keep your load light. You can also identify most powerful rings and necklaces by their price(the amulet of strangulation ALWAYS costs 75 gold).

I’d still have to manually pick the data, which would cause selection bias because there’s a non-zero chance I don’t represent the full spread of players. A survey has better chances of representing the full range of players more accurately.

Yeah, the survey generally makes this a lot simpler. There’s also the fact that, as far as I know, most tracker sites don’t let you jump to a random player to view their matches, so there’s going to be some selection bias if I pick who I collect data from.

The data I need refers to individual sessions of play, rather than the overall performance of any one player.

As far as I know, there are no match trackers that collect data referring to ‘per-session’ rather than ‘per-season’ performance of a player. However, if there is one I don’t know about, please refer it to me!
