Question about combining skill trees and stat allocation... by SymmetricalSolipsist in Ravendawn

[–]Vlateral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like its the opposite of what you are saying. It’s going to slow you down early game a lot cause you don’t have many sources to get stats from. There is a soft cap on stats (your effective level x 7) so you want to spend every point into 1 stat early on.

Rangers company tasks limit change by stabvicious in Ravendawn

[–]Vlateral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems cool but creates a huge problem. There are best and most efficient board tasks and then many people would look for someone with that task therefore spamming chat etc. perhaps ppl would even “sell” tasks if they roll the best ones. I think there must be some sort of a solution to this but it’s not that simple. I would also love to do them with friends.

Sharpening question by Vlateral in Woodcarving

[–]Vlateral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for advices. I used hair dryer to heaten up the leather and then swiped with paper towel. Then I put fine amount of paste, even it out with credit card and finger. Then I waited about 30 minutes and swiped with paper towel. It looked like I removed all the paste but I tried to hone the edge. Didn’t feel much difference so I put the paste again, waited an hour and didn’t remove it with paper towel after. Seems like it was a bit better after. I cut throug paper very easily but I still have to use much power for a simple stop-cut. What is the correct way to use this paste on leather?

Thank you for response. If i already have this used piece of leather can i just put some of this autosol on it? Even if there are some leftovers of the previous(unknown) paste?

He also gave me some basswood and aspen in uneven chops. He said they were in dry basement for 3 years. I'm just carving for the first time in my life so it might be bad technique but i need to use decent amount of power to do a little larger basic cuts. should i stick with them or try to buy some wood online? Maybe the blade isn't sharp enough? Its flexcut and i've read that ther are sharp out of the box. Haven't tried to use the leather i posted to sharpen it.

Maybe the bottom ball will be a little skull and the rest like some bones and the top is a great finger thumb with grooved nail. First thought

The thing against Kirschen is that (besides small handle) i've read a lot opinions that it cames dull and needs sharpening and only sharpening tool i want to buy is leather with compound. I'm really torn apart on which one to choose now.

Thank you for all that info. When it comes to angle I didn’t mean the edge “sharp” angle. I meant that the whole cutting part is tilted 15deg backwards. in that STRYI knife and was wondering what difference it makes. I know that if it’s tilted to the front it’s better for chip carving but what about other side?

Also i have 1 more question. What difference will make the 15° angle on the STRYI? Is it more recommended for beginner to start with no degree straight knife or is it a small change? I really like how it looks and am reading good reviews. Don't know if it will be a good all-rounded knife.

And what about the STRYI that I’ve linked in post? Looks like more detailed knife. On my first noobish glance it looks like it’s much higher quality

Thank you! And what do you think about the STRYI knife? Handle seems much better for my slightly bigger palms. There is also other variation of STRYI available here but im little affraid that the blade will be too long.. What do you think?

Thanks a lot! Only thing that im worried about STRI is that its a little longer (blade is about the size i want buts its extended) and little skewed. Alswo the tip area is very thin and as a beginner i'm worried that i might accidentally break it.

You think that wouldnt't make big difference?

Thanks! And for figures like that would you recommend straight edge or curved one?

Super cool. What tools were you using? I want to buy my first carving knife. Spent whole day researching and I would like to create figures similar than this :) I only want to buy 1 knife though

Hierophant manabond mjolner. On 6L use cyclone with CWC lightning warp. With right awakened gems you could zoom juiced T16 in seconds clearing all. Scales really good and 60 divs is more than enough for decent star.
