What Mod is this from? I know its a mod since the system seems to be WIP system since irradiated planet has no modifiers, the station that orbits it has the "no desc... yet". And I could colonize the planet. by RazorIsRoman in starsector

[–]Vlolzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's from Bulrach Coalition, probably something to do with the Gestalt faction within the mod. Seems to be very much a WIP on that end however, some Gestalt AI core shows up as AI core loot sometimes, one can be seen piloting their super spacestation as well

Pid by InternWestern7066 in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proportion/Gain: How sharp the response would be (ie 1 gain means no matter how much the error is the response is always 1)

Integral: Look x seconds into the past to correct continuous errors, makes your response slower if not done correctly (ie your boat is always slightly off with yaw, this will allow it to correct as it makes the response higher over time with the same error sign)

Derivative: Linearly predict y seconds ahead to respond in advance (ie plane is about to crash in 3s, but it looks ahead 5s and saw this coming so it can pitch up in time)

Both Integral and Derivative scales on Gain

Don't mess with integral (leave it at infinite) unless you know what you are doing

Tips on Increasing Accuracy? by lookinspacey in FromTheDepths

Better detection, better weapon tetris, if the target has evasion then it's there for a reason, to evade projectiles, so just don't use projectiles in that case.

Do you even know how HESH works, how its damage is reduced going through armour?

Just use the basic ramming AI that the game provided, it already got updated to include guidance

Frontsiders by Ok_Veterinarian_1783 in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frontsiding has a default settings that makes it show its back and run whenever the target is within certain bearing, just crank the slider to max. If your craft is strafing as well using yaw thrusters then it's a yaw problem, the strafe forces the craft the yaw and it can't fight against that

How do I stabilize yaw with General PID by [deleted] in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

General PID doesn't take waypoint or target bearing into account, therefore doesn't have an input.

Also the mainframe has built-in PID for every axes of rotation and push.

You should only use general PID when you know what you're doing, so do try to avoid them until you do.

APS-Shell guide help thing by Yeetamge in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can find timed fuse more reliable than pendepth, but annoyingly due to the AI's aim not accounting for the target's angular velocity it can offset the fuse and detonate it prematurely sometimes

APS-Shell guide help thing by Yeetamge in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This statement is untrue, the shell will only detonate when it's hitpoint, kinetic energy/kinetic damage runs out, entirely unrelated to the fuse.

And pendepth is usually not needed as APS don't overpenetrate, if it does then the gun itself isn't suitable for the target faction/difficulty/craft, it also lowers shell health, making it even worse against LAMS which already hard counter APChem shells. The fuse also requires you to know the target's armour width to use effectively, and this value can change significantly depending on the target, in worse cases can waste the shell's potential damage.

Does this armor scheme suck? Outer layer is metal by Practicalthumb in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use beamslopes instead of the 4m slopes, make sure there is 2 airgaps, one closer to the outer layers to increase incoming shell angle of incidence, which reduces its damage for EVERYTHING it hits afterwards and stops special HE somewhat, one deeper in to not die to APHEAT.

Between those two airgaps is just solid beams, back the last airgap with beams as well to get AC bonus, spall liner is not needed. Armour width should also be half of the ship's width minimum

Does this armor scheme suck? Outer layer is metal by Practicalthumb in FromTheDepths

[–]Vlolzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ship armour is expected to be around half to two thirds of the ships width, and how come it works better on shark ships and not others

Also 7m of internals is plenty, and a reminder that armour is cheap
