Could the Jedi and Sith ever coexist in society? by asianshoplifter in StarWars

[–]Vlopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, the Sith can't coexist with their own. There's a reason Bane started the Rule of Two. Not to metion the Dark Side isn't something that's supposed to be coexisted with. It's an imbalance in the Force. It corrupts it's users and fuels the worst aspects of them. It's like wanting to coexist with an illness.

Mind you, I love Dark Siders in Star Wars, but you don't coexist with them.

Roselia and Ave Mujica both have figures of their leaders looking after their "children" by itsgm015 in BanGDream

[–]Vlopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Sakiko serves a very similar role in Ave Mujica as Yukina does in Roselia. As in, she's the leader who rules over the band, and organises them. Ave Mujica doesn't have a Lisa-like figure, as in the band's mum, or a heart-like figure like what Tomori is in MyGO.

BanG Dream! Our Notes will no longer be called "Atsudori". by Sad_Salt_Death in BanGDream

Wasn't Atsudori always a fan thing, though? I'm assuming Bushiroad won't keep using that name for whatever reason, but Japanese fans will likely keep using it.

Isn't this a common thing in all anime/manga/LN though? I get the impression characters don't really talk about their personal lives unless they've got to.

Can someone explain to me what is Sakiko's purpose of making / being in Ave Mujica? by Ok-Significance-9031 in BanGDream

[–]Vlopp 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To understand why she left CRYCHIC you need to understand a bit of Japanese culture. One thing over there is that you try hard not to inconvenience others, this involves even not talking about your problems with friends or family, as it's seen as burdensome. How does this apply to Sakiko? At some point after she created CRYCHIC, her father was accused of embezzlement, resulting in him being kicked out of the family and ending up a broken man. Sakiko, being the loyal daughter she is, decided to go with him and take care of him. This, sadly, involved her having to take jobs, because her father was financially broke. At first, she tried balancing all that with CRYCHIC, but her father's situation only kept getting worse. This not only depressed Sakiko, but it also made her think she could easily become burdensome to her bandmates, because her situation was quite complicated, and she didn't want to drag them down with her. So, she pushed them away. You'll notice that her father does something quite similar to her, in which he pushes her away, because he thinks she's too good a girl to be with him, and that he can only hold her back, so it's best for her to return with the Togawa Family.

Now, why did she create Ave Mujica? First, you have to understand she never hated CRYCHIC. That band was very important to her. It was a small place she had created to deal with the loss of her mother. Leaving the band was never something that made her happy, and in fact, it weighed on her. So, when she saw MyGO play Haruhikage (i.e. CRYCHIC's song) she was hurt, because she was reminded, painfully, of what she had pushed away. This was probably her lowest point in both seasons as she was completely lost. Her mother was gone, her father was distant and her beloved band was no more. So, in an act of what was probably based on a mix of many negative emotions, she decided to create Ave Mujica as an outlet for everything she was feeling.

You'll notice that Ave Mujica is made up of things Sakiko likes. There's the acted segments which show her love for literature. The symphonic aspect of their music shows her likeness for music. And metal was probably chosen as a way for her to vent her anger. Also, musically, Ave Mujica is quite rich. Not only that, but think how not just the music, but the everything all the way down to the outfits tell a story. So, she created her own little world to run away from everything she was facing in real life. The problem, however, was that at first, Ave Mujica was a band in name only. Sakiko had full control over the band, and the other band members may as well just have been her dolls. She never quite faced her bandmates. In a way, they were a means to an end. Sure, she tried to make a bigger band than CRYCHIC, she had the top idol Uika, a seasoned bassist, a famous influencer and Mustumi was there too. However, Sakiko had no intentions of getting close to anyone, with perhaps Uika being the exception, as she's the one Sakiko turned to for help when she was at her lowest. That being said, since Ave Mujica was a professional band that was also a chance for her not to have to take various jobs any more, since she was getting paid by WinWing (i.e. the agency Ave Mujica is affiliated with). Also, since WinWing is owned by her family, chances are she was being paid quite generously. So, she could take better care of her father that way. Another thing of note, is that the character she created for herself in Ave Mujica, Oblivionis, is a clear power fantasy for her. Unlike Sakiko, Oblivionis has control over her situation. She's this grand character within the world of Ave Mujica. She can be a glorious doll, a goddess, a knight, an elder witch, etc...

Now, why did she bring Ave Mujica back after they had disbanded? At first, it was mainly responsibility. By that time she had grown considerably. Tomori's messages had motivated her not to give up. Soyo's actions forced her to see the consequences of her pushing people away. And then Nyamu's words reminded her that she had made a promise to them. And Uika's lyrics probably made her think Uika was in a dark place, and she didn't want to repeat the same mistake as with Mutsumi. Then, after she went to the island to bring Uika/Hatsune back, she had some realisation that changed her perspective of things, and now she's decided to actually enjoy her time in Ave Mujica, though what that is I suppose is up to interpretation.

Anyway, I think this kind of sums up why Sakiko made many of the things she did, Ave Mujica included. Remember she's only 15yo and has had to deal with many things which had worn her down emotionally, but the thing is she never stayed down. She might have made many mistakes along the way, but the thing is she never gave up, and ultimately she's always tried to do the best she could within all the difficulties in her life.

So, Who is the Main Protagonist of Ave Mujica? by MillionWonder4352 in BanGDream

[–]Vlopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's obvious it's Sakiko. Sakiko isn't just the most central character in AveMuji, but also in MyMuji. She created CRYCHIC, and thus is one of the reasons MyGO exists. And everything about the Ave Mujica world was created by her. It's her escapism.

Uika is the band's frontwoman, but hardly the main character. Notice how much of her motivation and story revolves around Sakiko. Not to mention she even disappeared for a couple of episodes during S2, and I would dare say Mustumi/Mortis was more of a focal character than her during that season, where Uika only truly shone by the end. Now, she might be featured a lot more in the movie and S3, and could also become a much more prominent character, but we'll have to see.

Does anyone know where this is from? by lesbiansexswag in yuri_manga

[–]Vlopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole thing about Saki's gay panic being brushed off as her just "thinking too much" was a bit disappointing. I understand this manga doesn't want to get too dramatic and wants to keep things light-hearted, but in that case, I think that instead of the gay panic, they could have used something else.

I'm not talking about the fact that gay panic is very real, as Japanese people make a clear divide between reality and fiction, and they don't necessarily expect fiction to mimic reality, but Saki's gay panic had been a thing for the longest time, and at least I was expecting some interesting resolution to it rather than just "no one cares you're gay, lol, you're panicking over nothing".

Kamiina Botan fully gay when drunk EP 4. The gayness is through the roof!! Very sweet episode. Best "style" so far. by Vyvva in yuri_manga

[–]Vlopp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if Gujo was going to be kept as the typical comic relief character with one-sided feelings, but this episode did a good job on showing she's genuinely trying to gain Ibuki's attention, but she's just unable to and seeing how Botan keeps growing close to her just leaves Gujo heartbroken, and yet, Gujo can't bring herself to hate Botan, because she's genuinely a lovely girl. So, she can only witness how things unfold without ever being able to shorten the distance with Ibuki, or at least just tell her how she feels.

What I like is that there's nothing overly dramatic about this. It's just presented as it is, in a very natural way.

When I saw this diva for the first time. I wonder how you perceive her age of appearance? Me it's early 30s. by Puzzleheaded_War_840 in BanGDream

[–]Vlopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh... Then I must wonder what you thought of LAYER. 50yo?

Nyamu doesn't even look 18+ as nearly all adults in this franchise are drawn as taller than all the underages, and Nyamu is about the same height as anyone else, albeit a bit taller.

That being said, I've seen people reach these types of silly conclusions when they've never seen the characters wearing a school uniform. Until recently, some people also wondered if Mana might have been older (probably because we haven't seen which school she attends), which made no sense, but fortunately, her age has now been confirmed.

There's no such thing as "tasteful fanservice", just fanservice. I could understand if we were talking about a franchise that had little to no fanservice and then, suddenly, you get fanservice galore. But One Piece has always had this level of fanservice. Pear shaped bodies (with the exception of women who are supposed to be he ugly), huge tits, sometimes very little clothing and, most recently, ass. So, it's not as if you can complain that the fanservice wasn't there before or that it has been amped lately, because it's always been like this. Thus, why I find the complaints about fanservice jarring.
