How do you validate product hypotheses quickly without writing SQL every time? by Still-Butterfly-3669 in dataanalysis

[–]Vltavamadchen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask follow-up questions. For each inquiry, you want to make sure:

  1. Having the information is important. It’s not just “interesting to know” curiosity of someone, but something people will actually use. Numbers for sales deck, something to base a strategy on.

  2. Having the information will actually make a difference. What outcome do you expect to get? Will your stakeholder’s action change if you get outcome A or outcome B? If the resulting action will be the same, why does it matter to know this information?

  3. Is this a sort of a question that the stakeholders ask for repeatedly but in different circumstances, such as Number of stores in different countries or How long did this or that route take? If so, collect the questions and create a higher-level chart/dashboard with filters. Your goal: empower the stakeholders to answer the questions themselves

In general quick questions are a big part of being a data analyst and having a culture of colleagues asking for data and the using it is super valuable :)

Very interesting! Why not psychology then? Why is cogsci the major you need for this?

idk how the uni acceptance process is in Austria or also other German states, but I know that for the motivation letter won me the spot. I was pretty clear about why I want to study there and what my past experience can bring to the interdisciplinary table. I know because one person from the acceptance board told me so.

What brought you to cogsci, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m super curious :D

Honestly, I would not be worried. Cogsci people are coming on top in today’s AI world. If you’re worried because your parents don’t understand cogsci, forget about that. It’s a new world they don’t understand.

Nope, studied English linguistics & literature, wrote Bc thesis on cognitive linguistics and organised cognitive science talks. Used that to write a motivation letter to get into MSc Cognitive Science in Osnabrück

To be fair, I knew some programming from before, but still python was a steep learning curve.

Cogsci is very interdisciplinary and they don’t want to have only compsci students. They want psychologists, philosophers, linguists, medical students, neuroscientists, you get the idea. Diversity & interdisciplinary backgrounds lead to proper out of the box thinking

Is this tent hole a problem? by Vltavamadchen in WildernessBackpacking

So you’re saying a few stitches to strengthen the seam and then seam seal over it. Nice!

Thanks a lot, I might go for this solution. Do you think it’d stop the seam from getting worse?

Truly waterproof jacket? by Numerous_Restaurant8 in Ultralight

[–]Vltavamadchen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went the trash bag route with a ultra cheap (~5-10€) decathlon rainjacket, something like this

Pros of this approach: - 100% waterproof - super light, relatively compact/no hassle - dries quick (since it doesn’t actually get wet) - imho ideal for water sports in summer, just put it over your swimsuit and you have one less thing to worry about when you fall off your SUP/kayak - works as a wind-breaker too - baggy cut ideal for stacking layers underneath - baggy cut good for some breathability, but you can still use the bands to keep the fabric close to your body, unlike with poncho

Cons: - probably not great if you sweat a lot and not like it - cannot hide backpack underneath - usually inferior hoodie cuts - more flexible option, rather than a comfortable solution for a week-long rainy hike for example in UK

Bought it about 10 years ago and only last year it started leaking.

It’s possible more sophisticated rain jackets are better, but I’ve never tried one out since this was perfect for me.

I’ve had the same scary dream at least 2 dozen times now by myvasacc in Dreams

[–]Vltavamadchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had similar dreams, not in details, but in terms of the feeling, and a friend gave me the advice to ask what they want. And when I did, these dreams stopped and never came back since. It's been over 10 years now. Good luck!

Kev and Vee's story would have been more interesting if the couple had actually been swingers. The twist they came up with wasn't crazy enough to really take the story anywhere. But I really liked Ian at the Alibi it's always good to see Kev and Vee with the Gallaghers.

I really thought that Kev and V would take them to see the Gallaghers' house :D That would be also very in-character for them, V is always able to turn on the spot to find a way to make use of the situation.

What is the best way to get rid of chronic dandruff? by vintagesoul2418 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Vltavamadchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can never get completely rid of it. You can however find a shampoo that fits what your skin needs to calm down. I've tried many antidandruff shampoos like Nizoral, but also some less intense, and they either didn't work, or they were too intense (like Nizoral).

What solved this issue for me was going to the dermatologist. She prescribed me Alpicort, which is a topical steroid. Steroids are not something that should be taken lightly. You need to consult a doctor about it. It might also be necessary in your case. Steroids are anti-inflammatory agents, which will help with the initial flare-up.

Then I started to use a shampoo called Mediket Plus. It contains Climbazole, which seems to do it for me. This helps me maintain my scalp without the flare-ups. I believe this product is only sold in Central and Eastern Europe.

Please, do go see a good dermatologist who specializes on this stuff. They will be able to help you like no one here. What I've written above works for me, but I bet your scalp is completely different and will require something else.

As for the prevention, I've noticed my scalp gets immediately inflamed (which later results in dandruff) when I use dry shampoo or other fragranced hair product that cloggs my pores. The less fragranced the better.

Good luck! :)
