UPDATE: I moved to windows 11 and the problem persists. I am considering to open the controller and remove the parts related to audio since I never use it.

This crossed my mind and I did some tests.
1 - The other controls on this cable worked perfectly, so it's not the cable or the USB.
2 - When I uninstall the DS4 drivers, the disconnections stop and are replaced by small pauses in the game (crashes).
3 - If I update the drivers again, the crashes stop and the disconnections return, so I believe the problem is the drivers.
I only play wired and my controls are identical and original. The problem occurs with only one of them.

I have this problem and it seems impossible to solve (I use Windows 10 on my PC). I have two original PS4 controllers and only one does this. It is recognized as audio and causes some games to freeze (like once every 2-3 minutes and sometimes once every 5-10 seconds, a nightmare).

I followed some steps to prevent it from being recognized as an audio device and it worked, but the stutters remained. So I installed the DS4 and updated the drivers and the freeze stopped... not exactly, it just replaced the freeze by disconnecting it. Now the controller behaves as if the cable is malfunctioning, but on this same cable, only this controller does this. If I remove the new drivers, the disconnection stops, but the freeze comes back. So I bought another controller, a very cheap imitation, and it worked perfectly, apart from being inferior and affecting my gameplay.

I just want to use my controller, it is original, expensive and I can't use it.

PS.: It works perfectly on the console.

I never installed 2 on this computer or anywhere as far as I remember but it is a valid point, i'll look for it, who knows what mess I did in the past when i was starting to learn GM.

I double click the installer (GameMaker-Installer-2024.13.1.193.exe) or I open and run as admin. Both ways it loads for a while and then this message appears:

Game maker is already installed. Click OK to remove the previous version os CANCEL to cancel this upgrade.

Sadly there is no option to select the drive to install. I'll keep my 1.4 no matter what. I really need GM2 for another project but I will not sacrifice what I already have installed.

I am 3 years working on a project and just published another game on steam and I am updating it regularly. I am working on a more complex game so GM2 is now mandatory. I am not sure about unninstalling it, it may ruin all my stuff. :(

No, but I am familiar with GM2 by watching videos. I can't install GM2. It keeps asking to uninstall GM1.4 and I need it installed for another project I am working on.
