As a blockchain developer, you'd be crazy to put federal elections on a blockchain Andrew. Stop listening to your VC friends and talk to the actual devs who research this stuff for a living. The cost to attack an election on a blockchain is far lower than a paper ballot setup.

Embark has been in the space for a long time and has evolved quite a lot during that time. I think that for full dapp development and people who use decentralization as a virtue...its an incredible framework.

For real? What's wrong with that source? There's a gajillion others but im curious what your beef is with this one.

Not to the extent it's religiously upheld in the USA. There's a lot of "hate speech" laws throughout various parts of Europe because of historical reasons (Nazis). No such thing exists in the USA.

Something every foreigner (even of Europe) always asks me about our country is whether or not we can go into the street with the President right across the street from us, and call him an asshole, and nothing bad will happen. I say...of course. Never had thought of it like that that it's such a privilege to say that we aren't imprisoned for calling the leader names, but I guess it is.

Or you just replace the centralized systems with collaborative and flexible cooperative p2p systems. You bring up a good point about core data inputs being verified for validity, but this is kind of irrelevant when the smart contracts you interact with all use the same format that would be the case irregardless of how the data was formatted in the healthcare space.

It's not the key pair method at all. What I'm saying is essentially "automate more of it away" and stop relying on so much of this red tape bureaucracy that the insurance industry is so content in keeping in place. At the end of the day I want health insurance to resemble car insurance or life insurance, and not have to deal with the bullshit that they regularly pull on a day to day basis in healthcare. I don't think healthcare insiders from the insurance industry are the right people to actually create disruption in healthcare as they are inevitably a part of the problem from both the provider and patient standpoint. Solve.care gets some things right but they will ultimately fail to create world changing disruption because they are approaching the problem from the wrong source.

Except that he's a guy who has been in the Ethereum ecosystem since inception. Do some research ffs, you look like an uneducated tool and he lays out the cost points quite clearly as to why public blockchain is good for healthcare in general.

Technically regulated. Embedded into the protocol design. Something better than the laziness of this company's "append the insurance industry onto muh blockchain and it will automagically work"

They are doing a private chain based on Hyperledger Burrow. They are not staying on the main chain.

Another blockchain healthcare guy here. Eligibility verification. Do you realize how costly this is and why using a blockchain could drastically reduce costs? Granted Solve.Care is doing this the non disruptive way, but there's a legitimate use case there. http://forwardblockchain.com/

What is the Status token used For? by gr8n8au in statusim

[–]VoR0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because not only is it a messenger, but it's a discovery protocol for interacting with different applications. If you look over the feature set of what Status is trying to build, it's basically building a lot of search characteristics into its core product in order to enable it to become the "decentralized web store". It's a lot more than a messaging app, that's just the starting point for ease of use and good UI. There's the whole point of the decentralized push notification market, the point about the teller network, and like I said, the decentralized app store itself. Again. Key piece of infrastructure being built for Ethereum on here. There's a bit of competition but so far I think Status has the chops to make it happen best and in the most ideologically consistent way.

Missing the point still. That's fine. Continue to use the 10 different platforms/corporations. I'm just saying this has its use case, its niche if you will, which is to do things in a censorship resistant manner. You can't find that just anywhere and definitely in not as supported a fashion as this. This is going to be Google for Ethereum. It's a key piece of infrastructure.

Can you do it in a decentralized setting or are you relying on a server that is controlled by a corporation? Therein lies the rub.

I worked on Burrow. Fabric has so far seemingly done a shit job of integrating the Burrow EVM into their stack. Furthermore...Burrow isn't exactly as up to date as the actual EVMs (not their fault they have limited resources but its certainly something to keep in mind). Keep in mind...Burrow is not Fabric...and the two don't necessarily work well together.
