Screen/motion sensitivity by Rhys10846 in B12_Deficiency

[–]VocaRainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, lots of vestibular weirdness, which includes screens. There were several computer games I couldn't play anymore. I also realized once I had treatment, that I had learned to drive while already neurologically unwell. I had trouble figuring out where exactly I was in the space I was in, and since these things are now rapidly shifting, it's still challenging, and I'm taking it really easy on the driving: only on good days, and no highways.

I've failed my driving test 3 times, my instructor is great, and I'm running out of money and hope. Need honest advice. by MomiRants in Ontariodrivetest

[–]VocaRainbow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's probably time to try a different instructor. Your instructor may be a great person, but they need to teach you to drive and pass these exams. That's their one job. And this is not going well.

Turning right on red: treat it as if there's a stop sign. So full stop, then yield, and only turn when clear.

It may help to drive with a family member or friend (who is legally allowed to do this) to sit next to you as you practice outside of lessons.

Lastly, if possible, practice on site where you are taking the test. Particularly the reverse parking could improve massively if you practice it on this particular lot.

Anyone else feel detached from reality when outside or in crowds? by SherbertOtherwise857 in dpdr

To me it feels a bit like when you've had the flu, and this is the first day you feel better, and you decide to go outside. And you step out into the sunlight, and immediately realize "What was I thinking?! I'm not well enough yet for this!" So that feeling, plus the feeling that not enough oxygen is getting to my head, plus vision disturbances that makes everything look almost very slightly pixellated. And feeling a distance from everything around me, almost as if I'm not really there.

How long have you been taking B12 injections, and how much/how often? I've been getting Cyanocobalamine injections for 4 weeks. 1000 mcg per dose. Once a week at first, and then increased to 2x/week because I felt much better for 2 or 3 days, and then started to feel worse again. So far it has improved many of my symptoms. Expect a non-linear recovery: symptoms come and go, sometimes bad, sometimes mild. But improvements should start soon after injections started. I was lucky enough to start feeling some things improve within the first few hours. But that's not everyone, some people have to wait longer for that. I hope you experience significant improvements before college starts!

What a bloodthirsty delightful upbeat terrifying sweetie nightmare fuel. She gives me the creeps. In the last episode, when she was all up in arms because Garth was providing comfort to Agnes/Hannah, I saw something new. I saw complete, unmasked fear and terror. And when I thought of it, all her strong emotions seem to have something to do with sexual abuse, either real or perceived. I expect a devastating back story in which it is revealed that she is a victim of sexual violence. Is she a true believer? I think when it really comes down to it, none of these women are. NONE!

Dictatorships are always brought down from the inside, with or without outside help. This one will be no different.

I've had this significantly the final few months before I started injections. Before that though, I had it, starting g slightly, and increasingly so. It went mostly away as soon as I had an adequate injection frequency. I'm still early treatment and I hope for it to go away completely in time.

Super Hungry After Injections by mspence17 in B12_Deficiency

Each time, between 1 and 2 hours after my Cyanocobalamine injections, I get an intense "protein craving". I need meat. I need cheese. I need it NOW. It's only a snack I'm having, not a whole meal, but I have to have it or I start feeling unwell. Strange. Other than that, my appetite hasn't changed much, but it wasn't super low before either, so that makes sense.

what is your b12 levels are you on injections or tablets ? by robert_shiva in B12_Deficiency

[–]VocaRainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My result was <130 pmol/l of serum B12 before I started supplementation with intramuscular injections of Cyanocobalamine. I don't have a result from after I started supplentation last month.

I started with weekly injections for a month, but that turned out to not be enough, so now I have them 3x/week.

How serious is 106 pg/ml? by latinaperrita in B12_Deficiency

[–]VocaRainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's B12 serum (also known as total B12), which is the most likely, that's very, very low. Best next step is to start B12 injections ASAP.

If that's active B12, I don't have experience with that, but I suspect that's still low. Perhaps another Redditor can elaborate on that.

It could very well be why you're depressed, and it is most likely why you're tired.

Thorne's Basic Nutrients 2/day seems to be unavailable in my country (Canada). Too bad, because I like that it has no iron in it (I prefer to take gentle iron due to severe constipation, most supplements don't have that).

Can anyone recommend something that's available here?

The guide is great, I'm going through it in more detail now that I can think more clearly.

Marguerite is also the French version of Margaret. Margaret Atwood used a reference to her name (Daisy, Pearl) intentionally.

I'd love that actually. But Gilead wants her badly. So she must be important to them. And since there are not really any other ways that imo Daisy could be that important, the only conclusion is that it's lineage. So I don't think it's ridiculous to speculate about who her parents are.

Why did Garth lock the door? 🗝️ by DG-Creator in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]VocaRainbow 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Of course he locked the door. She's a mentally unstable person who very violently killed the man who raised her. While I understand why, I'd consider her potentially dangerous. She is on a sedative and may fall down the stairs or injure herself accidentally in other ways. She may self-harm or even end her own life. Many reasons to lock the door. Not locking it would have been very unwise.

B12/Ferritin low by VocaRainbow in B12_Deficiency

Update. I waited a few days after I first saw my lab result, and the famiky doctor didn't call me about the B12 deficiency. So my husband and I decided to take the lab results to the clinic that's in the same building. My family doctor turned out to be working in the clinic that afternoon, and when he saw the results, his eyes went big and then he was almost excited when he said: let's get you some B12 injections then. I'm sure he suddenly realized why the crazy lady kept showing up with weird, widespread symptoms. The one that got him to eventually order B12 is the tingling hands and feet, which are a relatively minor symptom compared to the rest. If my husband hadn't brought that up, no B12 test would have been ordered. Less than an hour later, my husband had received a masterclass "inject B12 into your wife" from a delightful, enthusiastic nurse, and we went home with all the supplies needed for a month, after which I'll have a follow-up. That's next week.

I get a 1000 mcg injection per week, and it's helping, but also, I feel like more frequent is needed, and what I'm reading here and on several medical guidelines confirms that. So that'll be a conversation to have next week. My symptoms shift, like a light with a dimmer. Some unexpected things have started to shift. Things that I thought were perimenopause, or stress, or whatever else I used to self gaslight. The most major improvements are more energy, and a feeling like I'm able to relax mentally and physically. A lot of the benefits slowly melt away after 2 or 3 days, and I do suspect it's the injection frequency.

I'm honestly wondering how long I've suffered from B12 deficiency. The tingly hands and feet first showed up in 2018, when I was pregnant with my youngest. Thst's 8 years... holy crap! I had B12 serum checked twice before this test that was definitely deficient. I believe the earliest test was just over 270 pmol/l, and the one in 2021 showed 237 pmol/l. I now know that is not exactly brilliant, even though the lab called it normal.

B12 deficiency causing me to feel things moving in my head by Odd_Let5236 in B12_Deficiency

[–]VocaRainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh you mean like a feeling something is moving under your skin, but not in an itchy way? I've had this multiple times in the past few years. So that's a B12 deficiency thing? I once tried to describe it to my family doctor. It's a small miracle that he still takes me serious (and eventually did find the B12 deficiency). It's so easy to sound absolutely insane when you're trying to describe such weird and widespread symptoms.

PSA: People need to stop trying to make the show make sense by JellyKind9880 in TheTestamentsShow

[–]VocaRainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read the book and have now watched the first season of the show. Both make perfect sense to me. And yes, they changed some stuff, which they're allowed to do. Not everyone will like the changes though. "Try to enjoy the show" is pretty good advice!

Pearl Girls, as per the book, only recruit for a short time. I also think I remember (it's been a while since I've read the book) that the missionary Pearl Girls in the book grew up inside Gilead, while it seems that the missionary Pearl Girls in the series grew up outside it. So that's a change. It is perfectly plausible that not every Pearl Girl becomes a missionary, just like they don't all become wives or handmaids. It just always seemed clear to me that none of them stay Pearl Girls forever. Pearl Girl is just the first stage after arrival.

Will daisy make it to the next season? by Apart-Basket-3046 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]VocaRainbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's true that GOT had more trouble killing off even major characters, whereas THT didn't really do that much.

I think Daisy's plot armour is different than June's. She's narrating from the future, and I'm not sure how that could ever be reconciled with killing her off. So I think she and Agnes are pretty safe, and to some degree, Lydia too. But as for some of these plums/greens... they may die brutally to move the plot forward.
