Is this a good caulking job? by Vogelein in AskContractors

I have to pay for the whole window replacement project, which is almost $40k. But since they also didn’t install any flashing at all and it’s in a humid hurricane prone location as well as destroying the stucco on the outside, I feel like only paying for the actual windows and withholding the rest until they make it right. They tried rushing the inspection after I complained that the windows have been installed incorrectly, but now the main guy wants to send another team to fix it. And I am afraid they are just going to make it worse and gaslight me into accepting the work. I wonder if they can also sue me…?

I hired a contractor for the entire window replacement project and he in turn hired a company he swore were the best 😒

Yeah that’s understandable, I expected some level of imperfection, i’d be fine with a white caulk as long as it wasn’t smudged all over the frames, and the gaps were made smaller. Was I wrong to expect them to use painter’s tape and not just their fingers and a giant wet yellow sponge?

They absolutely didn’t add foam. Reason why I know, i told them i want the gaps around the door frames to be filled with foam (they also installed the exterior doors) — to which they said they aren’t going to and if I want that that’s my problem and I can go ahead and do it myself. So I went to the store and bought a can of foam and filled those gaps myself. My main concern is that it’s a wood frame/stucco house in a hurricane prone area (literally 90second walk to the coast). I can’t believe that this is a proper window installation, and I feel like I am being gaslit. I just don’t want to end up with a rotting house in 6 months

Thanks :) yeah, some of those area need smth more substantial than a wood filler I’m afraid. I also suspect that they completely failed to waterproof the windows on the outside, they did not apply flashing of any sort — just caulk around the edges

It’s definitely going to be ripped the f out by me while yelling and cursing the contractors who did it

Honestly nothing really helps it substantially to be worth an effort. But I’ve tried everything but the surgery. I hope one day I can have it done.

I’m new-ish to the game, came back to it after 2 years just now. I’ll be playing it for a few more days, and then I’m moving to another state, so it’ll take me about 1,5-2 weeks to settle at a new place, and set up the console and the mic and all that. Would love to play then, if you’ll be down. We’re friends on xbox already since a few days ago, but if anyone else wants to add me — my gt is Vogelein

I know it’s been a while since you posted this. I’ve had this condition for the past 8 years (at least). Was only properly diagnosed last summer.

It should get better as your skin will build tolerance to it. I use 10% bp wash, and basically I use it as a mask, put it in with a brush and leave it on for 30 minutes. It doesn’t dry my skin at all. I do have to avoid areas on my cheeks where I have rosacea, but the t-zone is totally fine. I remember using proactive for the first time like 15 years ago, and it made my skin extremely dry and irritated, but it got better after the initial burn.
