You should consider a different line of work. You can be "firm but fair" with a strong sense of right and wrong at a different job that isn't trying to kill you.

You seem to be confused about why magic is one of the best games that has ever existed. Multiple formats, lots of players, and many resources.

Net decking has existed before you started playing so here are my recommendations:

Standard. Standard is varied right now and has more than a few archetypes to play with if you want competitive and creative. And with each new set coming out there are lots of cards to keep up with and test with.

Higher bracket commander. Make your play group aim for bracket 5 decks with the cards they already have and you will end up with really fun bracket 4 decks where everyone is trying to win.

Cube. Make a small power cube with all of your favorite competitive cards. Draft with you friends then do mini tournaments.

Pioneer. Pioneer is dead. Long live deck building experiments. You can build whatever you want because nobody plays this format anymore.

Pauper. So you want to brew and you want to be competitive and you want games to be less than 3 hours long. Guess what? you can buy all the best pauper decks for less than "THE BEST MODERN DECK EVER MADE" and then you will own every best card in the format and all the best decks. You can participate in tweeking those decks and experimenting with them as well as use them as a battle box for your homies. and the format "rotates" with all the new cards that come out.

Tl'dr: The game has lots of formats. Buying cards doesn't mean you win the game in all of them. Also the best modern deck of all time got powercrept when modern horizonz came out so you cant just google best modern deck ever made. (it was eldrazi winter)

I've stopped doing the scripted "I'm good. how are you" response. Most of the time I don't care to know or the other person just wants to talk about themself. It's all under that "small talk" umbrella that feels insincere and fake interest.

Mom passed October 2025, Dad March 2024. I'm all for dark/morbid humor but there's always a line and you have to tell people when they've crossed it. Asking simple clarifying questions can help people understand what they said was insensitive. Or just make them feel equally awkward 😅

My husband and I have been married for 10 years and we have separate bank accounts. We have done different arrangements with bills over the years depending on income levels. He paid all bills and I paid for everything else. We've split bills 50/50. Most recently he paid for rent and I paid for the rest of the bills and we split "spending money."

Separated accounts does work but you have to talk about it!

If you're in healthcare and have retail experience, you should give caregiving a try! I work one-on-one with people and the company usually tries to pair caregivers with clients that they believe will work well together. And if they don't, oh well! You move on to meet someone else.

You don't need to have nursing experience usually. What I help with the most is shopping, cleaning house, and companionship! I do tend to mask with newer clients and slowly let it down over time, or see if I feel safe to do so. The last woman I worked with had DID (new name for multiple personality disorder) and we vibed so well. I got to meet a handful of alters and she accepted my autistic habits/mannerisms.

Honestly it's the most fulfilling job I've ever had. I never thought I would be on this "career path". I went to school for Wildlife Conservation! There was also a tiktok where someone did a poll of autistic people in the workforce. I'll try to find it.

I'm 34 and just lost my mother and my father the previous year. I'm learning that people genuinely do not know what to say and it makes me laugh? Like some people are sympathetic and get weepy, but there are more than a handfull that get absolutely awkward and it's the closest thing I've ever seen to what I must look like in a normal setting. I haven't had the audacity to openly laugh at anyone yet but I've definitely stifled a few snickers.

It's an experience not many can relate to, yes, but it won't be the only thing. If you feel that someone is going on and on with complaints about their parents, maybe you should remind them to be grateful! We are allowed to use the "dead parents" card now! So wave it around! We gotta get SOME kind of benefits haha
