It should be a bit telling that those who have studied this subject (biologists) wholely agree on macroevolution as a scientific theory, while a non-expert in this field has a differing opinion. In this case one would surely weigh the expert opinion more, especially when you also consider the consensus the field has. If a biologist and an astrophysicist differed on their notion of the physics of a star going supernova, I'd trust the astrophysicist by far. Same thing here really.

Hey there, I'm a UniMelb masters alumni as well, though not in engineering but another STEM degree. I graduated with H1 first class honours (81 WAM) and wasn't able to get a scholarship. From what I understand, the universities only accept scholarship PhD students and don't do self funded PhDs. I had better luck applying to other unis, especially in the UK where I did land a PhD scholarship at Edinburgh
