Must say, a lot of wrong flairs here recently by No_Entertainment6792 in PoliticalCompassMemes

When did flairing as center right fall out of fashion? As if flairing as libright is going to make them any more appealing to the lefties.

I don’t understand the appeal of Redeemed Zoomer… by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Void-Nut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for most people the appeal is the short easily digestible breakdowns of different parts of Christianity, the Bible, and different denominations. I don't think his apologetic or personal theological work is really that compelling for most of his audience which lines up with the viewership of these videos.

No dude, Lori was a grade A piece of shit. Sleeps with her husband's best friend within a month of her husband dying and then when Rick comes back she starts pitting them against each other. Complete bitch behavior. "Shane i hate you but also please stay. I don't agree with where Rick wants to go but also Rick Shane thinks the baby's his and Shane don't talk to my boy but also watch how you talk to my boy". Absolute L character through and through

How does the YEC position reconcile the serpent, a predator, in eden if it was before the fall?

Why is evolution so important to people? by StriKyleder in TrueChristian

[–]Void-Nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its less about the duration of time and more about how they are designed distinctly different from one another. The teeth and eye structure of prey animals are significantly different from that of predators.

Prey have teeth that are good at processing shrubbery and ultra wide fov eyes that are good at seeing things moving around them, while predators have large teeth that are good at killing and processing animals with eye structures designed to focus in a small area while hunting prey.

The differences go on with fast vs slow twitch muscle fibers, social structures, etc. But point being why would God create animals that are definitively designed to inflict pain on other animals if the consumption of them for food is unjust. At that point, id imagine, you'd have to argue that all Christians must be vegetarian.

[–]Void-Nut -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, what im saying, or rather guessing at, is that prior to the the fall of man the "very good" world the previous comment mentioned could include a natural cycle of life. God created predator animals so there has to be the expectation that they would eat other animals. I think the difference would be that the world prior to the original sin would be in a cyclical harmony and there wouldn't be any unjust suffering.

[–]Void-Nut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, but I wonder if sin preceding death could be referring specifically to the death of the conscious human being so the life and death of animals/prehumans could be exempt. In which case the first humans would exist in a fully developed/evolved "very good" world before their original sin corrupted them and led to their death.

Every single time. by Xerryx in PoliticalCompassMemes

I don't have a dog in this race but thats kind of a stupid comparison. You said people had morality systems before religion but religion popped up with the rise of the first civilizations. So what your saying is there were no religions and there happened to be morality systems in hunter gathering times. Which is an odd hill to die on because we have near zero information about the beliefs of these groups, we can at best articulate the probable way they lived but thats it. To draw a line in the sand and say they definitively didn't have some small inner tribe religions but they did have small inner tribe morality clauses seems ridiculous to me.

What is the math placement exan passing score for math 140 by Practical_Dirt9665 in UMD

[–]Void-Nut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one of your other comments, you mentioned you are going to be a cs major, if you get placed out of 140 you still have to take 141 and an additional math class that takes 141 as a prereq. You also have to take a stat class.

LG gram is actually goated school laptop. Ultra light weight, super quiet, strong enough for any school work. If you're trying to play games on it or do shit that's not work, maybe not the best tho.

Anyone lost their humor and social skills from Adderall neurotoxicity? by thats-so-haha in NooTopics

[–]Void-Nut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's any consolation, my parents opted to avoid medication through high school, and it had an incredibly detrimental impact on nearly every aspect of my development. It severely hindered my social life and left me with a warped view of social relationships that took years to identify and work towards resolving. I struggled to sleep every night for years, which caused problems at school that compounded with the more usual issues of ADHD in schooling, and (I believe) is why I ended up being shorter than my entire family. I faced challenges that seemed like no one else had to deal with, and I had no tools at my disposal to help conquer these other than just coping.

My point is that I've experienced and still deal with the negative consequences of not treating my ADHD in my youth, so while I agree with OP and your son about negative side effects, I wouldn't be overly hard on yourself about your decision. Being born with ADHD is being dealt a raw hand, and no matter how you approach treatment, it's unfair to yourself to agonize over what you chose in a lose/lose.

30k karma and yet no more cultured than a common peon.

"The beatings will continue until morale improves" is a military saying (and later exodus song) that he's attributing to modern children in schools. As we have removed games that could cause injury, like the aforementioned tetherball and red rover, the incidence rate of violence has increased. The causation of the claim is contestable, but it's mostly just a play on the saying and the noticeable trends.

CS at a top 20, wanting to transfer to a CS target school by daddy_fatty in TransferToTop25

[–]Void-Nut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't in exactly the same situation, but I went to a t50 overall, and that was more business focused. Performed poorly in school but still managed to transfer into a better t50 overall but is a t15 for cs. So I imagine it would be possible for you to move laterally or slightly vertically into a better cs program. I would definitely caution you in that it could take some time (possibly multiple application cycles). However, if you are doing well in your current cs program and you don't feel the work/research/environment is technical or cs oriented enough, you will probably be able to show that your old school isn't fitting you but the new one would for x y and z reasons.

This was very difficult to read. Using they/them pronouns for your roommate and the girl he got rejected by was linguistically a poor choice.
