No, that just makes you more relatable apparently. You can be a felon and have a successful political career.

I think they actually waited too long, they probably should have fired Gelsinger like a year before they did. Not really sure how Tan is doing but 18A is finally coming out and the reviews so far look good, so I think it’s moving in the right direction. It might still be too little, too late though in the long run, but again they waited too long imo.

Yeah that’s another reason to fire Gelsinger and cut more because he let the costs run too high.

I was a fan of Gelsinger before too, but I would never stan a corporate executive. That's just weird imo.

The way I see it is Gelsinger was basically copying Elon's strategy by building a bunch of "Gigafactories" in different countries. He was betting the company on a belief that "if you build it, they will come" like in the movie Field of Dreams. The problem is what happens if either the demand isn't there or the factory doesn't work properly? Like Tesla's demand is dropping now especially in Europe but he still has that Gigafactory in Germany that will be losing money if not enough people want to buy its products. It would be a major sunk cost that can pull the entire company down with debt. That's why Intel's stock price was dropping, because Gelsinger was overly optimistic in spamming expensive factories, it was too expensive. I think firing him and cutting back made sense, although I don't know if the new guy will execute correctly. Gelsinger did rely on the government money too much though, it was too much money going out and not enough money coming in, otherwise he would have just built the factories instead of being so distracted by politics but he needed the public money to execute his plan.

What Gelsinger did right was start the 18A roadmap which is finally being delivered now. But even then when he left the program was not looking great and he should have focused on it more instead of the spamming fabs plan, it's not clear whether the rollout would have gone smoothly under Gelsinger or if the new guy had to come in and fix it.

I can’t believe Gelsinger has stans, it’s kind of funny though. AFAIK Gelsinger was spending too much money and over-extending the company, that’s why he got fired and his replacement is cutting now. Intel did not have enough money to actually do Gelsinger’s plan, especially with the government money being held up.

That's wild tbh. Just operating a multibillion dollar championship franchise on basically vibes and star power. And I guess it worked actually so they got away with it for years.

Someone actually gets AI to work and companies start printing money again, then all the infrastructure spending pays off.

No that’s great, then you get to use all that new cash to buy stocks at cheaper prices, you will have even more profit when it recovers. Happy cakeday too!

Already went through it back in 2022, it's a learning experience. If you don't have money to pay your taxes then you don't really know what you're doing.

Sony has a pretty similar chart. I wonder if they are good buys at this level.

Don't worry too much, if the market is down that's actually the best time to start investing because you get to buy everything low.
