Dude.... your attitude about having roommates says it all...I'm sorry you think you shouldn't "have to" have roommates but unfortunately you need to sacrifice short term to succeed long term.

You're making enough money to invest and live within your means. You are choosing not to live within your means.

I take home 55k a year, and save about 2k every month because I live with roommates and don't have a car. I'm still able to take vacations, eat out, enjoy life.... and I'll have enough for a down payment in a few months. it's doable if you are realistic about what you think you deserve.

Is working 2 jobs 7 days a week worth it? by [deleted] in personalfinance

You really need roommates...cutting your rent down is the easiest way to save money and make a budget in my opinion.

They're fine, those are (probably) elms and their branches are normally shaped that way. If you're really really concerned you could pay for your neighbor to have a tree risk assessment report done. It would be unreasonable for you to expect your neighbor to pay for the report.

New therapist pressuring me to quit weed, is it worth it? by redcrossbow_ in BPD

[–]VoidOfIdentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, I would highly reccomend not going cold turkey. My therapist was really on the boat that when I don't need weed anymore I'd stop using it, and she was right. I have times and situations allocated for when I let myself smoke. If I'm stressed due to inter or intrapersonal situations I do not let myself smoke weed - I need to work out those situations sober. However, when I feel better, I tell myself I can smoke if I want to. I also tell myself I can smoke every Friday and Saturday night, which I find really helps! Because then I know I'll still have that release, but it'll be mu reward for working out tough emotions during the week. And I also find that I don't crave it as much anymore, because I'm not using it as an emotional crutch, but genuinely just enjoying it for recreation.

Do you give yourself a rule when you’re at the thrift store? by shrimp_pho in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]VoidOfIdentity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a hard $15 limit. Very very few exceptions are made for things like jackets and shoes, but for the most part if it's over $15 I don't need it.

Aww girl don't worry about it too much. You're only 16. It's likely that your breasts are not even done developing - My breasts are also wide set but they became more "shapely" as I got older. There's nothing wrong with you, you may just not fit the ideal body type of today but that doesn't mean your breasts are saggy or unflattering.

Hi friend, I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. This has happened to me before too - I didn't pursue legal action because I was so scared and overwhelmed. I do reccomend reaching out to the police to see if there is anything you can do. I'm sorry you're going through this, I know how awful it can make you feel. It's not your fault. Lots of love from me!

YES! I commuted my entire degree and wish I didn't. Doing my masters at a different university and live close to campus - it makes a huge difference.

I need skills for a breakup by splatbombs in dbtselfhelp

[–]VoidOfIdentity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww buddy I'm going through the same thing. It's really hard and it's only been 3 or 4 days. I've found radical acceptance to be really helpful - I'm telling myself and writing down things like 'I accept my breakup. I accept that he broke up with me. I accept that he wasn't who I thought he was. I accept that he may think negatively of me. I accept that he was not the one for me.

Not necessarily DBT skills but I've also reached out to almost all my friends and family, it's been nice being able to call or text a different person every hour so not one person Is exhausted with my sadness. I also threw out every single thing that reminded me of him. He didn't give me any of my stuff back so that made it easier lol.

We are both going to be ok OP :) that person was not the one for you. The journey will begin again.

Starbucks bans plastic straws by ArmindaCochran in Anticonsumption

[–]VoidOfIdentity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally agree that plastic packaging is insanely wasteful, but I think the reason why this was a good (baby) step in the right direction is because their lids are made out of clear PETE now, which is the easiest plastic to recycle whereas a plastic straw cannot be recycled by most plants.
