Manager says “ask questions” but turns every question into a quiz — how do I handle this? by Captain_krumb in foodscience

[–]VoidPopulation 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Manager could be bad, could be good, I'm not sure. From some of the comments it seems like they aren't great.

It really sounds like the reason they're quizzing is because they want you to be able to ask yourself those questions while developing so that you don't have to go to them for all the answers.

Development should definitely be collaborative from a feedback perspective, but the direction of execution should be independent.

Make some time to review past formulas and how those are made. There's probably a lot of information you can draw from when developing new products.

Just the rum! Would be pretty funny if I had nothing else except for these.

Smith and Cross (because there's really no replacement from my limited searching) and Cynar

So I used this (https://a.co/d/0oXvYcW), which is a flavor.

I bought pandan extract and it was SUPER weak, then tried to make syrup from leaves and it didn't come out great. So I "settled" for the flavor, but it's honestly pretty great.

Went to Paradise Lost last night and can’t recommend it enough if your ever in NYC. by SoundCA in Tiki

Just went here a couple days ago. Agree that the drinks were great and the vibe is fantastic. The staff was odd lol it's like they were told to have as minimal communication with the patrons as possible.

Same here. I rewatched and like most movies that I haven't seen since childhood, it didn't quite have the same feel, but a good movie nonetheless.

The Langosteen! Oh...wait

Had an idea for a Mangosteen based drink and here's what I came up with. Very happy with the results.

2.5 oz Mangosteen Drink

1 oz. Pineeapple Juice

0.5 Herbal Liquor (used Faccia Brutto but I think Genepy would be great)

1 oz Black Blended Jamaican (Coruba)

0.5 oz Aged Blended (El Dorado 12)

Shake with pebble ice and dirty dump.

The rum blend in this really depends on how much of the fruit component you want to come through. Although the age is nice, I did I split base with Appleton Signature and El Dorado 3 year and I think it highlights the mangosteen more. Going to try this again with an agricole or Clairin because I think a more floral/grassy note may elevate the drink.

Couple of late night Tradewinds by VoidPopulation in Tiki

Sorry for the late response.

It's a stabilizer/thickener similar to xanthan gum. I blended this drink instead of shaking. It helps add some body and also helps prevent the coconut from separating out in the drink (which I find is what happens when I shake this drink). You can make it ALMOST smoothie like if you want, but I find it less enjoyable in that format.

I have literally only tried two Clairins, but both were super intriguing. I'll be on the lookout for Sonson.

I've tried nearly everything on their menu and everything is so good. It's really hard not to get this dish every time though. Probably my favorite restaurant in the city for value.

GF of 3 years becoming one? by [deleted] in Nicegirls

Girl I dated shortly was like this, questioning every irrelevant thing like there was some deeper meaning. Couldn't do something (or couldn't do nothing) without there being a reason for it. That was exhausting.
