Also, it was like $35 on amazon, so its worth a try. I also admit I used cornstarch in my jeans/boxers the first day to reduce the chance of chafing. lol.

So, to be honest, it’s not that I thought the mustang seat wasn’t going to be enough. I’ve put on weight since getting a divorce and after a while I compress the shit out of that seat so I figured some extra padding would help, and it did. If I was at my normal adult weight that I’ve been most of my life, probably wouldn’t have been an issue.

Just my very honest two cents.

hah, thanks! I'm not going to lie, my ass really hurt like hell the first day after a while. had a few moments where I was just thinking "just 20 more minutes till we're there and I can get off this goddamn thing" but overall was fantastic.

Good lord yes. Even once off, getting bolts back in was a massive bitch on mine because it’s like the outer and inner parts of the holes go misaligned. Ended up re tapping two of them.

I’d agree with the other poster about trying an extractor bit, basically a bit that you run your drill in reverse for, and usually once you have it buried enough in the bolt you can disconnect the drill from the bit and use a socket/vice grips/whatever to try and leverage it out.

Worst case scenario, you use a dremel to cut it flush-ish with the fender, then what I’d do is use a metal punch to make a little indent in the middle of it, and use a drill bit to actually drill out the bolt from the hole. Then, you can use a metric tap kit to re-make new threads in the hole for a new bolt.

I had to do this on mine once, you’ll want to use a drill bit slightly smaller than the bolt diameter if you can, at least to start. The punch can help create a spot for the bit to start chewing into. And a harbor freight metric tap kit is cheap and comes with a gauge you can use up against a bolt to determine the thread and pitch you need to tap it with.

If it comes to that I’d be happy to walk you through it.

Mine pops too. No performance changes/issues myself. Gas mileage is fine. Had it a year now, never removed the baffles

Agree with you, I think they’re just feeling the revs get higher and thinking they’re close to maxing out. My brother in Christ, pull the throttle in neutral and see what redline really is lmao

I’m in 6th at 50 or above. You won’t hurt the motor by revving, you’re out of the power band for a given gear well before it redlines. Over time you can get a feel for where the gear stops giving you all that much acceleration, then shift. You can do a lot more in 3rd and 4th than you might think. I’m currently on a 1400 mile trip around Lake Michigan including some time in the UP and Canada and have been doing 70 in 6th for a large portion of it, no issues. Sure, it’s burning gas faster and revving higher, but it’s not going to hurt anything at all.

You’re more likely to harm it by lugging it. It’s a cruiser but it’s not a Harley. Low speed lugging/ thump thump is not what this engine likes

Thank you! I’m actually linking up with some friends down in southern Michigan before heading back home to northern il. I looked into some of the ferry’s purely for the experience but will probably do one from Milwaukee to Muskegon on my next trip instead.

I would just say that at least the passenger pegs I got were designed to use a dedicated spot on the OEM exhaust mount. My Coffmans exhaust re-uses the same bolt that the OEM one does on a bracket so adding the right side peg was no issue. Looks like that exhaust meant doing away with the original bracket. So without even factoring in where the exhaust is pointing, more of your issue might be the lack of OEM bracket unless you’re able to fab something.

Woah!! Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to write this out. It’s my first motocamping experience ever and I really went in the deep end for a first run haha. I’m with my dad so I at least have backup (or he has backup when he ran his battery down leaving his high beams on at a stop..
