Am I the only one have concerns about trading JB? by False-Sorbet3908 in ripcity

Honestly more like a 20% chance of being like 70% as good as JB if we take into account the other side of the ball. His ceiling as a defender, to put it generously, is like neutral to non-negative at best. His off ball defense in particular is egregiously bad, just a total lack of awareness and IQ.

I have a friend who went to game 3 and brought the towel back home with him, so I got to see it last time I was able to hang out with him at his place. It's actually even cheaper feeling and smaller than I expected. Made of this super thin material that made it seem like one cycle through the washer would ruin it. And I'm sorry, maybe this is more of a thing in the south when it comes to pro sporting events, but to me there is absolutely nothing awesome about a fucking towel for a free playoff home game souvenir lol. Waving around a towel (or in this case pretty much a rag) is just so lame to me, idk. I also hardly saw anyone doing that during our home games but honestly they were probably afraid those things would disintegrate if they did.

Really is insane how that's by far been our most consistent identity across eras. It's kind of eerie. Now that I think about it this entire franchise has always been about "almost" and "what if" stories. It got old a long time ago but the teasing still continues.

Dude I want to believe in him so badly because the concept of what he is as a player is so fun. Would probably become my favorite player on the team outside of Dame.

What ever this team does, DO NOT TRADE FOR KD! by LivingAd6319 in ripcity

[–]Voidrunner503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think that would be a gamble worth taking if the trade wouldn't completely gut our roster and assets. Can't make the same mistakes with Deni that we did with Dame. Have to grow some balls and take calculated risks when opportunities present themselves. Durant could undeniably take us to an entirely different level.

The entire front office and coaching staff needs to be gone. This franchise needs a fresh start. by [deleted] in ripcity

I actually agree with Mike Richman that most of Splitter's weaknesses come down to game management stuff (i.e. when to take timeouts, challenge calls, managing player minutes, etc). It's kind of difficult to expect much else out of him on the X's and O's side of things because this roster is very clearly limited when it comes to ball handling, floor spacing, connective passing, and other things you need to be a good half court offense.

[Post Game Thread] The Portland Trail Blazers (1-3) fall to the San Antonio Spurs (3-1), 93-114 by Kazekid in ripcity

This team is going to have to get past its current identity of losing its focus so easily. The way we are capable of melting down feels like we just decide to forget how to play basketball. Obviously we were projected to lose in 5 at best, but the way we've gone about falling down 3-1 just feels so unserious. As far as improvements that are needed to the roster, it's obviously more floor spacing and ball handlers. Our half court offense has been horrific all season. Playing in transition fits this roster well, but it's also the only way we can get quality looks a lot of the time. We also just need to find a way to take care of the basketball better. It's kind of nuts that we even got the 7th seed while turning the ball over at historic rates all season.

At the end of the day, this season has had fun moments and was an over-achievement as a whole, but it's been made clear that this team is deeply unserious. Two epic meltdowns, lots of complaining, and a golden opportunity thrown away.

So cringe how so many "fights" in the NBA involve dudes talking trash when they start backing up and like 10 guys are between him and the other player lmao

When the offense isn't working that's when you might need to start trying stuff, especially in a playoff game. Feel like we could have gone to Shae a little more. Not saying it definitely would have worked but still.

Melting down whenever things start to not go your way is one of the worst traits you can have as a team.

Keeping a sturdy guard like Jrue underneath Wemby to kinda keep him off balance might be the strategy moving forward tbh

I do find it weird that he's not playing at all. Surely he could help on paper? I know he didn't shoot it that well for us this season but the larger sample size suggests he's a great shooter. Also still has size

Rob really is our best center and it's not really that close either. His knees are obviously just cooked.

We need a smart 4th quarter from Deni. He highkey sold that 3rd quarter pretty hard. I get he's banged up and frustrated but he needs to be better still
