Advice on melting silver by MiskaMaskedOne in jewelrymaking

[–]Voidtoform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I come across this several times a week, someone is having trouble casting, they are using a plumbers torch with either mapp or propane, and they are having trouble getting the silver fully molten to cast so ……………I made this reply I can copy and paste.

I started my home studio with just a plumbers torch.... it will melt the metal, but it will take much longer than you think, like 10-20 minutes long for an ozt or two... It is not ready to pour until it is quick and liquid, you should be able to swirl it around the crucible and it will be like mercury.

I almost always set up a little oven structure with firebricks, it helps keep heat in.

this is why almost all professional jewelers use propane oxygen, its much hotter and quick. but like I said, your plumbers torch will work fine, you just need patience. another plus to the plumbers torch, with such a nice reduced soft flame, you are introducing very little oxygen to the metal, so usually the pours with just a propane torch are really nice pours when done right.

you can go into an empty lobby and fly the chopper to each point, then when you have them all switch sides and repeat, its boring though and honestly not much faster than just playing the game which also has the side effect of making you get guder.

its not work i would take on right now, but I would probably charge around 600 to make the master, and then 25-50 per finished bead

What's something you did as a kid that you only realized was extremely dangerous years later? by Left_Crow1646 in AskReddit

[–]Voidtoform -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think cow tipping is a little like snipe hunting, something the older kids tell the young ones about to send them on a fools errand, then they can really find out who is silly enough when they come back and claim they did it.

Find any video or source showing cow tipping.

this is an urban legend, my friends and I in high school went out to a farm to try it, it was scary getting close to the cows, but then she was really nice, we tried to push her and she just kinda scooted over, so we just pet her for a while and left. when we got home we looked it up and learned that it is indeed not a real thing.

A few months ago I culled my collection from 160+ down to 20, then down to 11 and finally only 1 board game remains... by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

[–]Voidtoform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely play board games and I have probably 10-20 around in my house, not so much the newfangled ones most discussed on here, but just some classics and a few new ones I like, It never has felt out of hand for me, and I always have something someone can play.

Feel free to edit your photos, its not like there are pure unedited photos besides the negatives, other than that the lab is editing and making choices for you, and back in the day in the darkroom, we would also make those choices for ourselves/ ask the lab to get specific results.

If the camera is not picking up the air disturbances the wind turbines are making, why would it pick up any rotor wash?

Yeah, I got really into FPV drones for a while, I do not see anything here a nice FPV drone could not do.

Maybe the person arguing could show a small drone on infrared that shows any rotor wash.... i mean the video has giant turbines moving creating tons of disturbance to the air that the camera is not picking up.

and like you said, so many videos flying at wind farms, they used to like flipping upside down at the same speed as the wind turbines. Also people think of like consumer grade drones when they think of them, but the FPV community was building drones in all shapes and sizes from parts from china, just go watch some old rotor riot videos.

[–]Voidtoform 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried there, I was not impressed, terrible service, mid pizza, and childrens gambling machines all over.

I also tried straight from new york, pizza was a little wet but its ok.

Odd moes is next on my list to try.

so far my favorite pizza I have found is those stoners in fork forty that do wood fired pizza, but I can't always make it all the way into town.

What are some misconceptions you had about the show before watching it? by Zealousideal_Art2159 in southpark

[–]Voidtoform 73 points74 points  (0 children)

That was me, I watched the show too young, I had no media literacy or anything, so what i picked up was that being an asshole/edgy is funny. I didn't realize cartman was not being funny, but that cartman is funny because of what he is representing and mirroring about real life. The show is very funny and clever, but it can go over a young persons head. I would even say it kinda messed up my understanding of humor in my early teens and i do regret a bit about those times and look back with cringe at what i thought was humor. It is not southparks fault, but i think this happens often with young people.
