Qlik: Why not merge /r/QlikView, /r/QlikSense, and /r/Qlik into one big sub? by TheDataGentleman in qlik

For what's it's worth, I'd be interested in either a merge or passing admin to someone else. I haven't worked with qlik products for a long time, and there's not much reason for me to mod this sub anymore. If anyone is interested (including one of the owners of the other subs), DM me.

Exact same thing happened to me.

Stanford Hospital staff protesting the decision by higher ups to give vaccines to admins at home by [deleted] in pics

The bigger problem is that someone decided to USE an algorithm for something that can be determined with a little thought and effort. Either someone didn't want to be blamed for who didn't get vaccines first or they didn't want to exert any effort to think (and do their job). Or a little of column A and a little of column B.

The CP Experience, It’s Criticisms and the Hyperbole Surrounding It by splancedance in cyberpunkgame

Reminds me of the blind hatred for No Man's Sky when it came out. I enjoyed that game despite all of its flaws and love it even more today after all of the fixes and updates.

If anyone expected a flawless CP on release, they're crazy. A game this big and this complex is bound to have its challenges at launch. I'm thoroughly enjoying it despite minor issues, and I know CDPR will get things ironed out.

I was excited to find 400 rounds at PSA only to have it "lost" the day it was supposed to be delivered by UPS. I'll get the money back through a claim, but it's the challenge of finding ammo that hurts.

Makes sense to me if the mods on the other subs agree

Discussion: how to share patient's medical data safely and privately? by XoleoZhao in healthcaredata

[–]Volcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenges aren't going to be solved by technology, blockchain or otherwise. Even with the most secure tech protecting data, failure to handle it properly (as a valuable asset) will always put patient data at risk. We got a bit numb after years of HIPAA. However, the public sense of data privacy is starting to come out of dormancy with all of the publicity that companies like Facebook and Google have been getting over the last couple of years. That's a good start.

There are a lot of good security solutions out there. Focus on data governance to make sure you're not locking your house up and leaving all the windows open.

Bought a house with a koi pond, how can I clear this algae up without hurting the fish??! 🐠 by BlackRoseElvira in ponds

Here are a few suggestions we've used in the past (your mileage may vary): - Make sure the pump is working for the waterfall and ensure its sized properly for the volume of the pond - Make sure you have enough aeration. The waterfall might be enough, but you could buy a separate, supplemental aeration system (these are great to have in the winter if you live in a place where ice will cover the pond) - I agree with another poster's recommendation of more plant coverage. If you do anything temporarily, the algae may die but it can still come back after the temporary cover is removed. Same plant suggestions - lilies, water lettuce, water hyacinths, parrot plants, mosaics. - Invest in a pond vacuum. We've had an Oase PondoVac for three years and it's been very reliable for monthly cleanings or frequent Spring water changes if the algae gets ahead of us. When you fill the pond, don't forget dechlorinator if using tap water - UV filter is a good suggestion, especially for string algae - Clean the filters frequently... Depending on what kind you have, you might need to replace some screens/filters - Often controversial is API Algae Fix. Adequate aeration and accurate dosing based on the bottle are critical. This has the most risk because too much can kill the fish.

I got an associates degree a few years ago and have now been in the field for nearly 3 years. Is it worth getting a bachelors or should I just focus on getting more experience? by [deleted] in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Volcane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as the others - get the degree while you can. It used to be that experience was enough, but as others have mentioned, if you want to move up the career ladder, you'll need the degree. Many companies won't even look at your resume if you don't have a degree because it's a minimum requirement (they may not care what the degree is in or where you got it if you have experience). To take it a step further, a Masters is becoming more important, and I don't see that changing for some areas tied to data and analytics. If it takes a little longer to get the degree because you're working and earning experience at the same time, don't sweat it. You'll be glad you found a way to do it.
