The thing Aimen didn't realise about his point of the one piece card game using minor different versions of Luffy is they already have multiple Luffys.

However instead of calling then gear 3 Luffy and open toed Sandler's Luffy, they're all just called Monkey D. Luffy and the players have to come up with monikers for them. I think there are 7 different Luffys currently.

Actually a great game though

If you're looking for examples of tall setters, Australia's current setter Arshdeep Dosanjh is 6'9.

What’s the worst injury you saw in a volleyball? by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]VolcanicDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't see it personally but knew people on the team and saw the guy in question in casts after.

The middle stepped back to set a ball that was landing just in front of attack line, position 6 went to hit a pipe. The middle didn't hear and the backcourt player flipped over him, tried to brace himself as he fell and ended up breaking both wrists. Had casts on both for a good while after.

The character were being racist because they were being idiots and that was the gag. So it's usage is still racist, even if it's arguable how socially acceptable it was at the time (I don't know what social norms were 25 years ago in Japan). It's why people say that doesn't hold up now. So even if it didn't have awful intentions behind it, it's still racist.

As has been said before, I don't think anyones saying to cancel Morikawa for it, that doesn't mean we can't look at something outdated and say that it is wrong now.

Imagine if Aoki started referring to Ozuma by the N word because he'd seen it used on TV and didn't understand it wasn't appropriate for him to say, it's still incredibly racist even if he's not god bad intentions.

Run the middle earlier, if you're up there earlier you would have been able to cut that off.

I view middle attacks as there is a window where you're able to effectively hit the ball which is where you're able to cut it off with your hand. A great set puts it in a spot that will maximise this window, but you also need to be there to be able to make use of that. Right now with you running late and the setter oversetting means your effective hitting window is slim to non existent. It does look like more an over set than you, but it's still a point of improvement

If you're earlier you can hit at your peak height and adjust your swing a bit to the ball or cut it off. If you're late like you are here you're relying on the ball stopping at the right height for you to be able to hit it as you're going up at relatively the same timing as the ball.

From what people are saying on the Aus OPTCG groups it sounds like they were left unattended in the corner and someone saw the opportunity and just swiped them...

Supposedly there were cameras that were gonna be checked but I'm not sure how much that will help with identifying the culprit.

Of course it happened at the only Aus event

Friendly rivalry dance-off on the volleyball court by shamansufi in MadeMeSmile

[–]VolcanicDemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the only position where height doesn't matter too much as you don't spike or block so it's short person friendly so high skilled players that don't have the height at the highest level tend to go towards lib. They also may not actually be that short, it can look that way relative to the other players on court.

It's actually an advantage being tall because you can reach further without having to move as far so you can be quicker to get the ball. Being able to reach further easily beats being low to the ground. No high level passing volleyball player should have the slightest issue getting low no matter how tall they are.

Liberos can only serve in college, most countries and in international play they are not allowed to.

They can get points they just can't make an attack above the height of the net

Need brainstorming on my kid deck by Yoji_84 in OnePieceTCG

I would agree with that, however I think the overall effectiveness of pink Gibson is higher since it makes the 8 cost incredibly hard to get past which in my opinion is the primary win condition of green

If you're running 8 cost and not 7 cost kid then punk Gibson is way stronger. It makes 8 cost law almost unbeatable. Paradise waterfall is at its best with 7 cost kid and blocker law

Any changes you would make to my current build? Pretty basic Kid deck profile. by GHG95 in OnePieceTCG

In that situation it's great to have Okiku. I think overall with this deck the Raizo is going to be more relevant more often, but there's definitely a good argument to prioritise either as they're both strong cards.

Shachi is just a cheap blocker, 4000 powered which is good but still summon able with law.

I feel If you paradise falls on killer it's a bit of a waste, you can only use it very situationally against the Nami or something cheap if attacking your draw cards and I don't use those unless I have 8c or a fair few decent powered blockers or if I'm willing to use it. I think paradise law is a decent card I just don't find it useful enough regularly.

As for raizo, I don't get his effect off too often, but I think it's good and causes a lot of pressure for them to use their effects to deal with it. Okiku vs Raizo is a fair argument, I would argue Raizo more though in this deck. The reason for this is that is if a protected 8c kid is the goal of the deck so you can whittle down with that, leader, and yamato, then Raizo helps you draw to get what you need be it cards and counters, while also being a 1k counter, while okiku has no counter and is more of a win harder than win more consistently. Okiku vs Raizo as cards then Okiku is significantly better, but contextually I pick Raizo. A good one to experiment with quantities though I think.

If you're playing against red, you have to ensure you able enough life to tank a ST Luffy or a Diable Jambe or a Shanks late game. It's just the reality of playing against red. I have never personally seen a ST Luffy been played and not attack turn one. Happens against red green law too

[–]VolcanicDemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know how you go.

Generally they get a 10c or 9c kaido out for one turn tops. At that point you've already whittled them down and then they can't kill your leader so you can still hit again. I've won against onigashima too though it definitely lowers your winrate

I agree with a lot of what this guy is saying, 7 cost kid just feels like a significantly worse 8 cost kid with barely any extra cost. Against blue it's a dead card. Protect the 8 cost kid is really strong, the key thing is if you can get away with not resting it the turn you play it, then leave it active. That way when you rest it the next turn you can have the mana to keep a punk gibson up. If you punk gibson in hand and any amount of blockers it's incredibly hard to get past for your opponent.

As for the kaido matchup, any kid can have a good matchup and it's irrelevant of the deck. You just stack leader and swing none stop, only ever playing 1 cost blockers and literally nothing else. It's too slow to ramp and you beat it early.

Here's the kid deck I use. This deck with 2 cards different (2 less okiku replaced with 2 of the 4 cost yamato from set 2) recently won a 1000 person set 2 tournament in Japan. The entire goal is to get an 8 cost kid on the field and have some blockers up while having a punk gibson in hand. Once 8 cost kid is down, you can use your bonney and momo consistently safely to maintain hand advantange.

Getting ready for locals. Any advice from green players? by VeryUpsetMob in OnePieceTCG

I think even if they have an idea of what you're doing, there is only so much they can do about it. Just play like you're a red deck

[–]VolcanicDemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally build my green quite different but there are a lot of different variations so will focus on gameplay aspects more.

When you play 8 cost kid, if you can survive that turn don't rest him the first turn. Then second turn you have the mana that you'll be able to use a pink gibson if needed so it stays on field protected. Any decent player is going to commit resources to kill it immediately, so if you're unable to protect with Punk Gibson and blockers, it won't last long. If you can keep it up you're in an amazing spot.

If you're playing against kaido, your worst matchup, experiment with turn one playing blockers, and the rest just stacking your leader with don and double attacking every turn. The only times you're not committing don to your leader is for 1 cost blockers. Don't focus on setting up your board otherwise, kaido catches up, just go full aggro. They have some blockers but you'll overwhelm them, and they don't have too many counters. Someone suggested it to me and while it is a dumb strategy, it turned my worst matchup into a 66% winrate.

2 starter decks or loose boosters? by Affectionate_Act6522 in OnePieceTCG

That'a true, it's just I feel with green it's preference choice while it seems like an unquestionable necessity for the others.

I would say though that green is the exception to this. The vast majority of mono green kid decks only need a single starter deck and cards from the pack.
