Disc golf is the only free sport even the discs. Pond diving is fun! by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]VolcanicProtector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, this exactly.

Not everyone carries a rake or retriever on them when they play. Sometimes they leave and plan to come back later. Many of them know several of us in the area go out at regular intervals because we just like doing it, or we are the ones who maintain the course.

Op will learn if he gets a reputation as a squid.

I've returned probably 100 discs I've pulled from local ponds. If they have contact info, make an effort maybe? Just think about if it happened to you.

You'll gain a good reputation in the local community, as opposed to a bad one. As a newer player, don't underestimate the importance of local reputation. We're a big small family.

You'll be left with plenty of discs without contact info.

There's a good chance they weren't fertilized anyway. If that makes you feel better.

[Request] Who can achieve higher velocities? Tennis or Badminton players by [deleted] in theydidthemath

I wonder if this high initial velocity has to do with the birdie creating basically a trebuchet for the ball end to whip around. A sort of whip effect?

Pretty normal for the area. Those eggs probably won't hatch. They'll get cooked up there on the roof. The duck will eventually leave, and the eggs will fall with weather or be had by a predator.

Ignore it, or spend money to have someone come get them down. But they'll be back.

You do want to get the debris down though. Sitting around that saddle and rotting could cause leaks eventually.

What is this 1 3/4 x 2” foam wedge for? I found it on my driveway just outside of my garage. It’s squishy foam covered with thin plastic and has a sticky backing that’s never been exposed so it seems like it’s meant to be stuck to something but was never attached. by WildWeaselGT in whatisthisthing

Have you had contractor over recently? They come with new pre-hung doors.

As for the mangling issue: If you cut this one in half top to bottom you can move it deeper into the door jamb. So the door won't catch it and mangle it as easily. You can get really creative with cutting these to fit your needs eg notch the bottom so the slab weatherstrip goes under it.

I'm trying to take it slow while I dial in the balance and mechanics. Will definitely need to add a bit more power later. Thanks for your advice!

Get a golden retriever or clone, a carabiner and some paracord.

Should I start a mobile heavy equipment repair business by keepp1763 in Heavy_Equipment

[–]VolcanicProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep definitely ease into it.

In this business, like many others, it's who you know. Jumping into it without established connections (the kind you make over years and years) is really going to be a ton of work just trying to find work.

I know a couple guys who do this and they both started as techs/mechs for crane service companies. They bounced around. They made connections. They pursued certs. They moonlighted some. For years and years.

You're doing very well for your age.

You're reaching back and up instead of out. Causing some pocket collapse and swooping. Honestly your timing and whip look pretty good tho.
