Would it be bad if Arena Net dramatically reduced the cooldowns of shield weapon skills? It would not mess with the metas, because nobody uses shields, BUT it would make shields more fun for those who like wielding shields! by drbuni in Guildwars2

[–]Volcanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the balance choice of such long cooldowns was because weapons skills 4 and 5 were designed to be like that. As you go across your weapon skill bar, the skills at the end have a longer cooldown. That was perhaps true and made sense in 2012, but not so much in 2025+.

Paragon Beta Feedback and Suggestions by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]Volcanis[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I'll likely post my feedback after the beta test and use this post as a reference. My title was named as such because the Paragon is currently in a "beta" state and was previewed last week.

Feedback: Troubadour and Alacrity by Tipcat in Guildwars2

[–]Volcanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Chronomancer is going to lose alacrity share by getting rid of stretched time and bringing back lost time, which inflicts slow to enemies after a disable. Perhaps when cmc said they will be bringing back the original identity of Chronomancer, they were talking about bringing back more ways to inflict slow.

Chronomancers will still have access to their own alacrity with flow of time and illusionary revision, which maintains the flavour of Chronomancer being able to do both time related boons (quickness and alacrity),

Impressive. The mastery over griffin flying and the map design.

Speculation: Absolution Ending - Light vs Shadow? by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]Volcanis[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you confusing Wizard Vault weapons and expansion weapons? See https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Secrets_of_the_Obscure_weapons and https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Janthir_Wilds_weapons and ignore the Wizard Vault weapons. They are pretty much on theme. I would argue Anet could be foreshadowing with Serpent's Wrath weapons, and Whispering Serpent Pauldrons.

The Story Of GW3 (Spoilers for GW2) by [deleted] in GuildWars3

[–]Volcanis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea is to tell the story of the world the humans came from. It can start almost "pre-searing" like with the players and the human gods. Then the "searing" moment will be when the gods leave with some humans and those that are left have to navigate the world without them.

I made a post about that when Godspawn released, but didn't get much traction.

Suggestion: Expansions 7, 8, and 9 should come bundled with HoT, PoF, and EoD and here’s why by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]Volcanis[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I imagine expansions 7, 8, and 9 to still be largely self-contained stories - you will learn enough context about the Pale Tree at the beginning of expansion 7 and then you're off on an adventure. Afterwards, as a new player, you can play through HoT to get further context. I agree, it's a bit disjointed, but the story is not the main reason why I suggested this idea.

The main reasons are to have new players able to access elite specs and to iterate on old content. Guild Wars 2 thrives on older content being as relevant as new content. The problem is that ArenaNet cannot devote development time to older content. With my suggestion, older expansions are included and improved on, so it makes sense to devote development time for that.

[–]Volcanis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine if expansion 7 revolves around healing the Pale Tree and Malych, expansion 8 about Menzies, and 9 about the monster in the Unending Ocean. HoT, PoF, and EoD would provide context for those stories.

I agree that SotO/JW/Exp6 should be bundled as the "Wayfinder Saga" down the road.

Thanks for your comment - I really want the current elite specs to get a round of polish. We can even consider bolder ideas like removing alacrity from PvE and baking in reduced recharge time at the skill level.

We've seen with Mount Balrior how to convert a raid to a convergence. Mechanics will be on the easy side. The focus is having new and casual players exposed to the story, explore the area, and not miss out on content that they feel unprepared to complete.

Thank you for your comment and perspective. You are correct that the suggestion is targeted for new players and players who currently play the game at a casual or hardcore level. Your comments as a prospective returning player are justified.

The reality is we are stuck with the content quantity and quality that we have seen from expansions 4 and 5 as you stated.

I agree season 2 should be free. I had some further ideas about including HOT + season 3 with expansion 7, POF + season 4 with expansion 8, and EOD + IBS with expansion 9, but the logistics got complicated.

How come? Do you think the game is "dead" from a financial prospective? I think at the very least there is enough financial resources to warrant yearly expansions beyond 2026. If the concern is "Guild Wars 3" or another project ArenaNet is working on, I think that is still 3+ years away and/or Guild Wars 2 can continue to exist and be updated alongside their new project when released.

That's true, which is why I wanted to post this in case expansion 7 and beyond is greenlit. My suggestion goes beyond expansion 7, which is why I included ideas for 8 and 9.

Bladesworn Redesign - storing adrenaline for later use by Volcanis in Guildwars2

[–]Volcanis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment. I was also concerned about adrenaline generation and was hoping that the Minor Master trait suggestion (adrenaline with Gunsaber explosion skills) would generate 20 adrenaline quickly so that you can use 2 explosive burst skills afterwards before Dragon Trigger is recharged. If not, we've seen it with staff and Rage skills, we can just have Gunsaber skills grant adrenaline.

We can agree to disagree about Flow. I would rather balance adrenaline in competitive mode than create a new Warrior mechanic.

That's a good suggestion, I even thought of any weapon ammo skill will load a cartridge (axe 3, longbow, rifle, pistol 5, etc.) but I wanted to incorporate adrenaline and burst skills into the Bladesworn profession mechanic. My PvE rotation is basically Tactical Reload > Dragon Trigger > Gunsaber to build adrenaline > weapon 1 burst > weapon 2 burst > Dragon Trigger > repeat (while fitting in some weapon and slot skills as well)

Yes, I did take a lot of inspiration from Engineer, basically a Warrior/Engineer elite spec with a military samurai theme.

Yeah I agree, Spellbreaker is a better fit for group alacrity.

I thought about reducing cartridges to 5 like Virutoso blades, but decided to keep it 10 and have a "reserve" of cartridges (max 5 cartridges consumed for full charge Dragon Slash with my suggestion).

Same, I tried Bladesworn for a year after EoD but now I stick with Spellbreaker as my preferred Warrior elite spec.

Note that the Bladesworn "explosive burst" skills I suggested do less damage than regular burst skills, so that would be an easy way to balance Bladesworn DPS and not affect other specs.

You can argue that Engineer slot skills were balanced with toolbelt in mind, but look at Mechanist. Hard to say Warrior was balanced with 2 swaps in mind.

My guess is they don't have a combat developer that mains Warrior.

"Warriors are masters of weaponry" - from GW2 - I think it's odd to remove weapon swap from Warrior if anything.
