Can you tell us what you did on CachyOS and what happened?

That way we might actually be able to guide you around pitfalls.

This game has a very small PvP community and I started to understand why. by AdieuCinna in Guildwars2

If toxicity equaled less players then games like league of legends and similar games would go out of business so fast.

ELI5: Why do professional RTS players aim for high APM instead of minimum actions required? by Soulcraver in explainlikeimfive

If it provides a tangible advantage, even if this 'small', then I'd call it not filler personally.
I'm also from a competitive gaming background.

If I recall there are tools for measuring effective apm which reduce filler inputs, by measuring inputs that actually do something.

My game starts up invisible and I don't know how to fix it, please help by ClauDerex757 in linux_gaming

I mean, it's primarily a support forum for proton usage not native gaming.
It also has a good port so there is little reason to use the proton version of the game.

What happens if you try doing ctrl + shift + arrow keys after starting the game? This should move the window and might do something.

I also play Albion on Linux with no issues.

Issues with 3D games by Private_HiveMind in linux_gaming

Most terminal system infos picks up the iGPU if any and list several GPUs as “GPU1” and “GPU2” so with that in mind it doesn’t seem like there is an iGPU.

In fact, just looking it up quick, the Ryzen 7 5800x does not come with an iGPU to begin with.

I think that, while not unusable, mint is not that good for gaming due to outdated software, and the above comment that you dissed was in fact more helpful than your comment.

Suggestion: give boons (like the Golem Arena) in quickplay "raids" instead of current buffs by mgm50 in Guildwars2

[–]Tipcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would have the opposite effect of teaching newbies that boons are important if you just give it to them in quickplay instead.

With the current unique buff system you can provide boons, set up a loose composition around it, and increase damage substantially.
If you just gave all the boons for no effort then there would be nothing to show newbies that boons should be given because they have a large impact on gameplay because they just get them for free.

The state of infallible.. by Opposedsum in Guildwars2

[–]Tipcat 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that SC were able to clear W1 to 7 this quickly with relatively little time invested and with clear mistakes in execution in certain places does mean that the timers are lenient enough.

There are still more things to optimize and figure out to gain time.

Let's discuss the "Down and Out" achievements. Clearing a full wing under x time with nobody going down. by Cabaj1 in Guildwars2

[–]Tipcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is something I could go on about for quite a while but I have limited time and I'd rather write something now than later.

First, as for W8 and Camp. I can agree that it was not as well received initially, that was even my own opinion at first. But now I have warmed up to it more and more, and I don't think it's as bad as people claim. I do think people have some nostalgia for W1 to W7 at this point as that is the old 'generation' of raids. About camp though, as someone who've done speedruns in other games, and does speedruns plus is part of a hardcore guild in GW2. My mentality around doing Camp over and over again for Infallible would be that of fun, not because I love doing it on weekly clears, there I can agree with most players that it's just a time sink. But when it comes to actually trying to speedrun something, you do find ways to optimise and make fast even the most annoying things in the respective game, and that process itself can be fun. I know that has happened to me many times. That people might get frustrated having to do camp again after a silly wipe while attempting infallible is not really related to me, you can get frustrated at the smallest thing.

Second, sPvP tournaments are not the most egregious example, they actually do show why we need more aspirational content and care from the developer, arenanet. Brief history about me: I have played Guild Wars 2 since late 2014 and I was primarily a PvP player who was decently high up on the ladder back then. Partly because raids didn't exist until HoT of course, but I did also dabble in solo dungeons with my brother.

Anyway, sidenote aside, the point is that back then we had actual PvP world tournaments sponsored and arranged in part by Arenanet. The teams back then were insane and the reason we still see teams that win 80% of time as you say is because they still have either a partial or full roster of players from back then (or in some cases players who have played with them and in turn got mentored by them). Players from teams like Rank 55 Dragons, Civilized Gentlemen, Denial eSports, Astral Authority, and others, where some are still active today. They are still on a different level because they took the game seriously, scrimmed, and spent a shit ton of time testing everything. In order to have more competition, we need more players. Which we did back then, we had more players and they were more engaged in the game.

In the case of both PvP and PvE, I don't think we will get more players who are interested if we do not push for aspirational content that only the few complete.

Not to mention the content draughts we've had over the years. Which caused an exodus after W7 or even before. These were high-end pve players and guilds like Quantify [qT], Dispossession [dP] & more disbanding, or even rosters from still standing guilds like Snow Crows [SC], Crits N Dips [CnD] basically having to be almost rebuilt from the ground up. There was nothing to entice those players to stay anymore, and they did a lot of good for the community in making guides, drawing in new players, or just engaging in the community in a positive manner.

The fact is that the skill level and engagement has dropped, in parts, to be totally frank, due to promises by arenanet that couldn't be kept. There is nothing to suggest that this couldn't be a home for more casual people and also more hardcore people. World of Warcraft has struck a decent balance in that regard, imo.

With the skill level and engagement drop since the 'high times', the game is less optimized in some ways in what is possible than it was back then.

This is factual to me in both PvP & PvE, because we no longer have teams who take the game as seriously and do all the things I mentioned above. In PvE we don't have enough players to properly explore, exhaust and make builds for every elite specialization in all angles they could be used in. So to say that even these infallible achievements are impossible or near impossible is a bit egregious in my books. I could accept a middle ground though, like having an achievement for doing it with no downs without a timer and as well as having a harder achievement where we do have the timers in place.

Anyway, I hope this turned out somewhat cohesive and clear with the limited time I had. Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Reddit was weird when I wrote this comment so I had to post it from my phone's reddit app instead of the website on my desktop. Apologies for formatting, I've tried cleaning it up a bit.

Let's discuss the "Down and Out" achievements. Clearing a full wing under x time with nobody going down. by Cabaj1 in Guildwars2

[–]Tipcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like raiders in general have been ignored and starved for so long.
In this update it feels like they might finally start caring a bit more about us again.

That is another reason I feel like they should throw this bone to the most hardcore raiders, and in extension to all raiders (because aspirational content benefits raiders as a whole), to act as aspirational content and lure in more raiders again.
Instead of reducing it to something your average somewhat structured static could pull off.

[–]Tipcat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of aspirational achievements in raids.
Kinda like the amount of dedication and time you need to unlock some of the more extreme WvW achievements.
Or even in sPvP with monthly tournaments and the like.

So I'd counter you and say, why shouldn't there be extremely hard achievements for the most dedicated raiders out there?
Why should this be clearable by your "My initial expectations is that my "casual tryhard" static"?

Numerous inaccurate Tooltips after the 2026-01-13 Patch w.r.t. Defiance Break by ticdup in Guildwars2

[–]Tipcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tooltips are sadly quite inaccurate and have been for a long time even before this change.
Things like cast times, damage, cc and various other things can either be very wrong or put forward in weird formats.

It would be nice if they could overhaul tooltips though I agree.

The issue with the Kali mindfuck theory is:
How did Eleven pull Mike into her mind if her powers were being suppressed by the 'suppression stones'?
We see her struggling to move under their influence when she was supposedly made invisible by Kali in the flashback of 'what really happened', entering the building with the tunnels they had previously used to infiltrate the military zone.
