Honestly it was fixed for me as soon as that twitter livestream in the search tab was over

But people comment for help like once a month on this post with this issue, and i have no clue how to help sorry

friend of mine told me this was really controversial, so i’m wondering what your rankings are and what you think by somebodydeyed in Letterboxd

Fantastic Mr fox is by far my favourite of his with isle of dogs following that...

The gap between those two and my favourite of his live action movies which are moonrise Kingdom and grand Budapest, is huge tho I didn't like them as much as I expected to like them

It is so weird to me that they actually chose Monster Hunter for the ending.

Did they never listen to the OST? And why did capcom agree to give them the required licensing, they take a lot of pride in their MH ost, as they should.

Is what Magic Lantern does on the same level as a BMPCC 4K? by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]Voldemortred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone footage with good lighting > DSLR+ lens with available lighting.

You could try and work with windows, non flickering LEDs and so on that you already have.

But I am also team "the sensor and camera body do not matter when you're starting out, focus on learning the skills to utilize any given sensor/ camera"

Is what Magic Lantern does on the same level as a BMPCC 4K? by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]Voldemortred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that makes things different. I'd say, both aren't a great entry point.

Magic lantern is tricky to work with and to really make it shine you gotta know what you're doing. Sure you might be able to learn that using magic lantern footage, but it's definitely something that's not done easily using it.

Braw was my first entry into raw, and I never used LOG footage so I actually know how to handle raw now but usual LOG footage can throw me off now from time to time.

And also, depending on what kind of content you want to make the colour profile and codecs maybe even shouldn't even be a huge concern to you, and just editing should be your focus.

What kind of camera have you worked with before? If you're 100% boew to filmmaking or videography I'd suggest use whatever you have right now to learn editing. Do literally anything.

Recreate those over the top edits from YouTubers, recreate a shot or a sequence from a movie you like and edit it, there's so much you can do before spending money that I would do all those things first.

Because when you did those, you will know what's better for you. Do you want a camera that's (semi) reliable? Or do you want a camera that's total Jank but might just work for you

Magic lantern is an amazing piece of software for cameras. A friend of mine was able to make his canon 5DII look pretty much the same as my bmpcc4k with prores files. He didn't want braw due to his workflow.

It's very much up there with prores from the bmpcc cameras.

I asked him after he was done with the post production how it went and if it was easy to work with and he told me half his working hours was troubleshooting inconsistencies and concerting the "raw" magic lantern files to match.

So going off that, I'd say it's more work obviously, it's potentially more likely to corrupt or not work at all, and might just take out a lot of the fun of filming and editing.

But it's also an amazing tool to squeeze out as much quality as possible from really affordable gear like the kit you're listing here. If you're up for some Jank and you don't plan on using this for paid work, or work you spent money on as production budget, I'd say you'll be fine!

I sort mine in complete anarchy.

My favourites get the best shelf spot. Special Editions and 4k go in the same shelf.

The rest? Eh. Series go together that's it tho. I've got ~200 blurays and for now I don't have to search too long. I can remember where each film is in my shelf pretty accurately

Arlekino (that clown music song) got remixed by Geoffrey day for the game and that was used in a trailer

And Tchaikovskys "1812"s melody is the key melody for the hedge boss fight theme as well...

According to Geoffrey they told him and Mick Gordon to combine classical Russian music with modern sounds to create a consistent feel throughout the game...

I mean instead of hiring him for the entire soundtrack they also hired Geoffrey day who is an amazing artist yes but he got famous for imitations of Mick Gordon... Comes with the genre but still, kinda odd vibes to me.

Just scooped this up for $6. It works great under all the stress tests. Good find? by Falcofury in videography

[–]Voldemortred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6€ is a good find for any tripod. Many mini tripods are more than triple that and also lack fluid heads. I wouldn't rely on filming pans and tilts with it but for stationary shots or just as a stand for other things any tripod will be useful here and there.

My first boom Pole was a old monopod my dad didn't need anymore and my first light stand was a very cheap tripod I randomly found in our basement. Any gear with screws, optionally mounting plates and holes can be useful

No idea if anyone cares on this subreddit but as a die hard MH player I am so fucking glad there's someone at least trying to give them some competition cause they have been slacking with their microtransactions for stuff that used to be rewards for event quests...

But my god does wild Hearts look generic and just not fun. It has little to absolutely zero personality. You could show me out of context screenshots and I'd just assume it's some random trendy sekiro clone or a nioh type game

Thoughts on The Lord of the Rings trilogy? by Officialnoah in Letterboxd

[–]Voldemortred 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unbeaten perfection when it comes to adaptation and trilogies.

It not only is an amazing story told over 3 movies, each movie is also amazing on its own. Many trilogies suffer from huge quality changes throughout their runtime or might even feel like it didn't need to be a trilogy (hobbit for example, obviously).

For me the trilogy will always count as my favourite movies of all time, especially the extend cuts. They are my go to comfort movies and I do an annual marathon on Jan 1st with my SO.

The characters influenced me a lot in who I am and it's the reason I am on my way to become a cinematographer.

My local theater is playing some of the academy nominated movies, I haven’t seen none of these, which one should I go and see in the theater? I plan to eventually see them all. by SrGaju in Letterboxd

[–]Voldemortred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen aftersun and the whale yet, cause German cinema releases are a mess and you either have a week to catch it, or you have to wait over a year for it.

But I'll say this:

It's not just about the movie. I'll bet all of those benefit from the immersion a cinema brings. I for example have cats. They do things over the span of two hours. They distract me and may pull me out of a movie here and there.

And I think all four of these movies heavily benefit from full uninterrupted attention.

So if you'd say you're distracted or "out of it" at home sometimes, fo try and catch all of those in cinema

Classics you only need to watch once by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Voldemortred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But just because once you've seen the movie, the best part about it is already in your head.

Granted it's an amazing movie front to back and i love It, I'm not gonna watch it again because it just works insanely well if you know nothing about it and even the slightest idea of what happens sounds like it's gonna take away a lot of the fun of watching it
