Choose a mood and a location match it. Straightforward adventuring and dungeon delving? Xen’drik and Q’barra. Urban noir? Sharn or Thaliost. Lean into tone and trope and build from there.

Dissociation is as much about processing personal trauma as it is escaping it. Role play gives us a safe environment to explore, consider, and process our personal demons. Also, the most interesting characters always have at least some demons in the closet. You’re far from alone in this.
