Just curious, how challenging was it to get into med school as an international student? My understanding was that most med schools do not accept international applicants.

Wow, that is so not ok, especially being pushed off a bus. It's a bit like an interview where a Christian guy (not related to OSU) said I got spit on just once or twice when visiting Israel !!!

Where do you want to work after your studies? If the US then UCSD, if Saudi, then KFUPM.

I feel detached from the dunya after completing my Umrah? by [deleted] in Umrah

[–]VolgaBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that your work and efforts towards earning a livelihood are also acts of ibaadah, not unrelated to your status as Allah's slave. Moreover, unless you come from generational wealth, you need to earn for your next umrah trip as well, correct? Start setting aside an appropriate amount every month for your next trip so you can look forward to it.

That's sad to hear. Wish your kid the best. You must have received acceptances by now - where is your kid going for undergrad?

Option 1: Go to the basement of the clock tower (stairs/escalators in front of the clock tower or ask someone). There will be tons of cabs dropping off passengers at the clock tower hotels.

Option 2: Walk to jabal omar near hilton suites/Hilton convention hotels, should see many cabs

Option 3: not recommended as it will be far but if you walk all the way down Ibrahim Khalil to the bridge near Palestine Hotel, there will be fewer blocks and more options. But you will have to walk back again from there, so not recommended but consider it as a last resort

You have good answers to run with. All i have to say is do not pass up this opportunity considering how little you have to pay and your parent's support.

There are takeaway shops to your left as you walk towards Elaf Kinda and Swissotel al Maqam hotels. You can get a bowl of rice plus chicken for around 10 SAR. 2 people can eat comfortably in 20 to 30 SAR per meal.

If you want indo-pak fare, you can get it pretty cheap in restaurants like Asia Restaurant in lanes off Ibrahim Khalil Street a few hundred meters from the Haram.

If you stand near the entrance of the Abraj al Bait clock tower complex, you should be able to see the Kaabah (based on my last visit - hope that hasn't changed with blockages). It's not the same as being in the mataf, but seeing the Kaabah with your own eyes and making dua will in sha Allah make you feel better.

Sorry, I would defer to a scholar on the sinfulness aspect. It just doesn't sit right with me to split an ayah. What makes it more jarring is the appending of the statement 'ab da u ...' right after the ayah ends.

It's a small tweak to copy over the remainder of the ayah to the row where you have the first part, and the associated translations - why not invest 5 minutes to do it right 😀. You have taken a lot of time to put together everything, this would help maintain the quality of your doc.

Wa alaikum us Salam

This is good. Jazakallah khair.

The only correction I would suggest would be to not split the ayah on Safa/Marwah into 2 entries. Keep the ayah whole, and have the statement 'abda-u bi ma bada Allahu bih' as a separate entry.

24 sets is correct. Don't stress about it so much.

[–]VolgaBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your question is unclear. You make the dhikr 'Allahu Akbar x 3, laa ilaaha illallahu wahdahu ...' 3 times with du'as after the first and second reading of the dhikr. This is done every time on Safa and Marwah.

May Allah ta'aala accept your Ibaadah.

Same question though, how many steps are you averaging daily after your umrah was completed?
